Causes of cervical dysplasia

Causes of cervical dysplasia

One difference between women and men is that women's bodies are weaker, so various problems may arise. Cervical dysplasia is a relatively common one. Of course, there are many causes of cervical dysplasia and the consequences are also serious. If it is not treated, many women will not be able to get pregnant at all. If they cannot get pregnant, it is a blow to every woman. Let us now understand the causes of cervical dysplasia.

Cervical dysplasia is a precancerous condition in which abnormal cells grow on the surface of the cervix, the opening of the uterus and vagina. It is also called cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Cervical dysplasia is most common in women under 30, but it can develop at any age.

Cervical dysplasia is usually asymptomatic and is usually discovered by a routine Pap test. The prognosis for women with cervical dysplasia who receive appropriate follow-up and treatment is excellent. But women who go undiagnosed or don't receive appropriate care are at higher risk for cervical cancer.

Mild cervical dysplasia sometimes requires no treatment and may only require observation with Pap tests every three or six months. However, moderate to severe cervical dysplasia—and mild cervical dysplasia that persists for two years—usually requires treatment to remove the abnormal cells and reduce the risk of cervical cancer.

Many women have HPV found in cervical dysplasia, the cells of the cervix. HPV infection is common in both men and women, usually affecting sexually active women under the age of 20.

In most cases, the immune system clears the HPV infection. But in some women the infection persists and leads to cervical dysplasia. There are more than 100 different strains of HPV, more than a third of which can be transmitted sexually, and two specific types, HPV 16 and HPV 18, are strongly associated with cervical cancer.

HPV is spread from person to person during sexual contact, such as vaginal sex, anal sex, or oral sex. But it can also be spread by any skin-to-skin contact with an infected person. Once established, the virus can spread from one part of the body to another, including the cervix.

Among women with chronic HPV infection, smokers are twice as likely as nonsmokers to develop severe cervical dysplasia because smoking suppresses the immune system.

Chronic HPV infection and cervical dysplasia may also be associated with other factors that weaken the immune system, such as treatment with immunosuppressive drugs after certain illnesses or organ transplants, or infection with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

In short, your body belongs to you. When you find that you have problems with cervical dysplasia, you must actively go to a gynecological hospital for treatment. Otherwise, you will feel more painful when you cannot get pregnant. Besides, pregnancy is a meaningful thing for every woman, and cervical dysplasia will also affect women's physical health. In any case, no matter what problems we encounter, we must face them with a positive and optimistic attitude.
