Cervical erosion is a very common gynecological disease. Most of the time when cervical erosion occurs, it can be divided into mild erosion, moderate erosion and severe erosion. Mild erosion does not have any major symptoms, but moderate erosion will show increased leucorrhea and back pain. So is moderate cervical erosion serious? What are the complications? Cervical erosion increases the difficulty of conception and can lead to infertility. Due to obvious changes in the physical and chemical properties of cervical mucus, it contains more white blood cells and the pH value of the mucus is alkaline. When sperm passes through the cervix, not only will the inflammatory microenvironment of the cervix reduce the motility of the sperm, but the sticky secretions will also make it difficult for the sperm to pass through. The inflammatory secretions will also be toxic to the sperm, causing them to consume too much energy and shorten their lifespan. In addition, a large number of sperm will be swallowed up by inflammatory cells and destroyed by bacteria and their toxins. Escherichia coli has a strong agglutination effect on sperm, causing them to lose their motility and ultimately preventing normal conception. 1. Cause complications If cervical erosion is not treated in time or only some ineffective drugs are used, the inflammation of the cervix will not be cured for a long time, which will cause inflammation of other organs. For example, the pathogens of cervical erosion can ascend and cause cervical endometritis; it can spread through the paracervical ligaments and lymphatic vessels and cause chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. 2. Cause cervical lesions Under the long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation, polyps, lacerations, eversions and cysts can occur. In addition, the incidence of cervical cancer in women with cervical erosion is significantly higher than that in those without cervical erosion. The incidence of cervical cancer in women with cervical erosion is 10 times higher than that in those without cervical erosion. Under the stimulation of long-term chronic inflammation, the columnar epithelium derived from the cervical hyperplasia may undergo atypical hyperplasia. If not treated in time, some of them will eventually develop into cancer, but this development and transformation process is relatively slow. 3. Cause infertility and miscarriage The texture and amount of cervical mucus secretion are directly related to whether sperm can pass through the cervix and enter the uterine cavity. When cervical erosion occurs, especially moderate or severe cervical erosion, cervical secretions will increase significantly, become viscous, and contain a large number of white blood cells, which will have an adverse effect on sperm motility and hinder sperm from entering the uterine cavity, thus affecting conception. Even if conception occurs, cervical erosion can easily lead to miscarriage. As can be seen from the above, when moderate cervical erosion occurs, it will cause a series of complications. If not treated in time, it will lead to infertility, miscarriage and other phenomena. Severe cases may also lead to cancer. Therefore, when moderate cervical erosion occurs, timely measures should be taken to treat it, and surgery can be performed if necessary. |
