What to do if a woman has neurasthenia

What to do if a woman has neurasthenia

The long-term existence of inner conflicts and tension can easily cause originally healthy people to experience symptoms such as nervous disorders and weakness, especially women after pregnancy. Pregnancy and childbirth are a stress response for them, which can cause more complex psychological changes in them. These psychological changes can intensify neural activity and trigger symptoms related to neurological disorders. So, how can we alleviate it?

Experts point out that pregnancy brings not only physical inconvenience and discomfort to women, but also psychological complexity and even contradictions. In such a state, they are more likely to experience symptoms of neurological disorders such as fatigue, mood swings, and poor sleep than other groups.

After a woman becomes pregnant, she will face events that are closely related to herself and the fetus. She will feel constant tension and anticipation, which will make her feel anxious, irritable, restless, insomniac, and emotionally unstable. This psychological state will continue until after delivery.

Faced with the old concept of favoring boys over girls, women who are afraid of being discriminated against for giving birth to baby girls also account for a portion of patients with neurological disorders; disharmonious family relationships cause some women to start carefully planning for the postpartum period during pregnancy; first-time mothers have no experience in pregnancy and breastfeeding, so they are always fearful, nervous, anxious, and even worried all day long, and have a heavy psychological burden.

Pregnant women who are about to give birth may sometimes experience loneliness. After they are admitted to the ward, they will be temporarily separated from their husbands and relatives due to limited conditions in some hospitals, which do not allow for accompanying care. As a result, they feel that they have lost their spiritual support, and are prone to feelings of isolation, helplessness, and depression. This will also increase the chance of neurological disorders.

In short, because women in pregnancy are prone to the above-mentioned negative and contradictory psychological states, they are more likely to be troubled by the many discomforts of nervous disorders than ordinary people. Therefore, as their family members and caregivers, we should pay more attention to and care for them, relieve their psychological burden, and ensure their physical and mental health.
