What to do if you have genital bacterial infection?

When a woman finds that her leucorrhea is abnormal and accompanied by symptoms of vulvar itching, she may have bacterial vaginitis. This disease often causes infertility symptoms in women and can be transmitted to her boyfriend through sexual intercourse. Therefore, she should pay attention to timely treatment after contracting the disease to avoid making the condition worse. So, how should we treat bacterial vaginosis?

1. General treatment

Keep the vulva clean and dry and avoid scratching. Do not eat spicy foods. Change your underwear frequently and wash it with warm water. Do not mix it with other clothes to avoid cross infection. Towels and underwear should be thoroughly disinfected: boil them for 15 minutes and dry them in the sun. They should also be kept in a ventilated and dry place at other times.

2. Drug treatment

(1) Metronidazole. It is currently believed to have reliable therapeutic effects and should be taken twice a day for 7 consecutive days.

(2) Methicillin (clomiphene). Shared for 3 days.

(3) Thiamphenicol (Thiamycin). It is effective against a variety of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and has a good therapeutic effect on the growth of anaerobic bacteria, so it can also be used.

(4) Cleansing and ampicillin can also be used. In recent years, it has been advocated that no treatment is needed for asymptomatic people.

3. Local therapy

Topical medications can be used for treatment, such as metronidazole suppositories, once a night for 7 consecutive days.

4. Treatment of comorbidities

If other pathogens are detected, use medications targeting those pathogens to avoid the abuse of antibiotics. Pay attention to the medication for systemic conditions, and provide support and immunotherapy at the same time, and pay attention to adverse drug reactions.

5. Treatment of sexual partners

The husband or sexual partner should be treated at the same time. Bacterial vaginitis can be transmitted through sexual contact, so the husband or sexual partner is also likely to be infected with the disease. If not treated, it will cause repeated cross infection.

After suffering from bacterial vaginosis, you should pay attention to active treatment and follow the above methods under the guidance of a doctor. You should also pay more attention to it in your daily life. You should avoid taking baths and toilets in public places, swimming in poorly disinfected public swimming pools, etc., which can also effectively avoid this bacterial vaginitis.
