Can I have normal sex life with uterine prolapse?

Uterine prolapse is also commonly known as uterine ptosis. Because the elasticity of the uterine wall is damaged and it cannot contract, the uterus gradually sags into the vagina, and sometimes even extends outside the body. Generally, female patients will experience symptoms such as fatigue and low back pain. Women may experience uterine prolapse during childbirth. Since uterine prolapse may cause the uterus to sag into the vagina, it will affect sexual life. Patients should consider it according to their own situation.

1. If there is no severe eczema on the vulva and the prolapsed uterus can be retracted, you can have sexual intercourse. If a pessary is placed and becomes incarcerated and cannot be removed, sexual intercourse is not possible. It can be removed and put in smoothly without interfering with sexual intercourse. Patients who undergo surgical treatment can resume sexual intercourse 6 weeks after the operation.

2. For those who wear a pessary, remove the pessary before sexual intercourse, clean it and set it aside for later use. At the same time, wash away the secretions before having sex. For those with eczema, apply tetracycline cortisone ointment after cleaning and then have sex, discharge semen immediately, clean the vulva, and rest after applying the ointment. For itching, take 4 mg of promethazine before going to bed.

3. In order to achieve pleasure during sexual intercourse, you need to adopt the appropriate posture to enhance friction. The side-lying position for women can have a certain effect. In addition, the woman can also try lying on her back with her thighs bent and raised. Doing more caressing before sexual intercourse can also enhance pleasure.

4. When resuming sexual intercourse after vaginal hysterectomy, the penis should not be inserted too quickly, too deep, or too quickly. After 2-3 times, there will be no discomfort or abnormality and you can have normal sexual intercourse. There may be bleeding or pain during rigid intercourse, which is mostly caused by granulation tissue in the vaginal wound. You should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment the next day.

For patients with mild uterine prolapse who have not yet received treatment, sexual intercourse should be avoided first. Due to the relaxation of the inner wall of the uterus, sexual intercourse will cause certain pain. If treatment is used, a pessary can be inserted to see if incarceration will occur. If incarceration occurs, sexual intercourse cannot be performed. In general, it is recommended not to have sexual intercourse for uterine prolapse.
