What should women do when they feel irritable during menstruation?

As a girl, I believe everyone knows that when the menstrual period comes every month, in addition to physical discomfort, the mood will also change compared to usual. It is common to become irritable or uneasy, and the mood swings are relatively large. Therefore, everyone’s menstrual period is not only a physiological problem, but also a psychological problem. The irritable and restless mood has a huge impact on everyone, so what should we do?

In medicine, this phenomenon of drastic mood swings during menstruation is called "premenstrual tension syndrome". It is caused by the imbalance of estrogen and progesterone in the body during menstruation, which causes endocrine and nervous system dysfunction, resulting in the above-mentioned series of manifestations. So, how do you avoid period irritability?

1. Reduce psychological stress

When women are stressed, they are more likely to respond to normal hormonal changes with physical symptoms and mood changes. Women who receive systematic relaxation and meditation training can greatly reduce their premenstrual dysphoric symptoms.

In fact, no matter whether our irritability is caused by the body or our own psychological problems, as long as we have the courage to face it, actively regulate our emotions, eat and rest regularly, irritability during menstruation will not be a problem at all.

2. Exercise more

Various aerobic fitness activities can reduce or even eliminate symptoms, and women who plan to exercise have reduced amenorrhea, depression, and anxiety.

3. Eat more mood-stabilizing foods

Carbohydrate foods can increase brain serotonin levels and reduce negative emotional responses. Women with premenstrual dysphoria should eat foods that are high in sugar and low in fat.

The above three are self-regulation problems excluding medication. Medication treatment may be more effective, but it is recommended not to use medication. In addition to these self-regulation methods, it is actually a good idea to practice yoga if you have the conditions, which can both calm your mind and help your body feel comfortable. All of this depends mainly on your own adjustment.
