What are the symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia?

Some patients know that vulvar leukoplakia is divided into several different types, and the symptoms of each type are different. So, how much do you know about the symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia? Today, the editor will answer this question for you, hoping that it will be helpful for your future prevention and treatment, and it will also be convenient for you to make timely adjustments to your body. Let's take a look together.

1. Stage I atrophic symptoms

Stage I belongs to the early stage of the disease. Its main symptoms are not obvious. Only a small number of patients will experience mild itching. There are no white lesions, and it is difficult to detect atrophy of the vulva with the naked eye.

This period when the disease symptoms are not obvious is often the best time for disease treatment, so female patients should not ignore these subtle symptoms, but should seize the time for treatment to prevent the disease from worsening.

2. Stage II atrophic symptoms

The main symptom of stage II atrophic vulvar leukoplakia is mild visible atrophy of the vulva, usually starting from the labia majora, minora and clitoris. The elasticity of the labia majora and minora decreases, and the surface wrinkles are reduced or absent.

Vulvar itching is relatively mild. Due to atrophy, the vulva may become dry, and there may be discomfort during sexual intercourse. Localized hypopigmentation of the vulvar skin, in the form of multiple dots or patches, is a sign that the disease is beginning to worsen.

3. Stage III atrophic symptoms

During this period, the patient's symptoms are most severe, with the labia majora becoming flat, the labia minora disappearing, and the clitoris shrinking, shrinking, or becoming adhered. The urethral opening atrophies, and in severe cases, urinary incontinence occurs. The vaginal opening atrophies, and sexual intercourse becomes difficult.

Some patients develop anal leukoplakia and atrophy, causing the skin around the anus to lose wrinkles and reduce elasticity, leading to anal fissures during defecation. About half of the patients develop large areas of hypopigmentation on the vulvar skin.

The symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia are warning signals that a woman's body is damaged by disease. When the signal appears, it means that the body can no longer heal the disease on its own, and the patient needs to use external methods to treat the disease. Timely treatment can minimize your damage. You must not delay it after discovering it. I hope you can recover your health as soon as possible.
