How should abnormal follicular development be treated?

Many women will experience symptoms of infertility, and most of these symptoms are caused by poor development of follicles. Female infertility will not only bring more serious mental burden to themselves but also affect the usual family harmony. Many women with the disease know the cause of poor follicular development. How to diagnose it? What women want more is to know whether this symptom can be cured?

Recently, the editor learned from a professional obstetrics and gynecology hospital that more and more women are coming to the hospital for consultation on infertility, and 30% of infertile women have poorly developed ovarian follicles. Most of the women who suffer from the disease are working women who are under great pressure from work and life. These women often suffer from endocrine dysfunction at first.

One-third of women suffering from infertility in China do so due to poor follicular development. The recurrence rate of infertility symptoms among these women is very high after treatment. The failure of women’s ovarian follicles to develop properly is mainly caused by the following four reasons.

[1] Problems with the pituitary gland lead to poor development of the ovaries, which in turn leads to various rare syndromes. If the prolactin level is too high, it will inhibit ovulation;

【2】Problems with the hypothalamus inhibit normal ovulation in women’s ovaries;

【3】 Women with premature ovarian failure or amenorrhea are incurable because their eggs have been used up.

[4] The ovaries of women with polycystic ovary syndrome will become larger. Although a small number of small follicles are excreted at this time, these follicles usually do not develop normally. In this case, drugs can be used to promote the development of these follicles.

For women with long-term infertility, they can go to the hospital for examination to confirm whether the follicles are well developed. Currently, there are four ways to confirm whether the follicles are not well developed:

[1] By checking the endocrine hormone levels in women, it is shown that the E2 level is low, while the FSH and LH levels are higher than normal. In this case, it is necessary to go to the same hospital for three consecutive days to undergo three endocrine hormone tests before a diagnosis can be made.

[2] Extract vaginal exfoliated cells from women to check whether the estrogen level in the body is low. This hormone level is a major basis for judging whether the follicle development is poor.

【3】B-ultrasound can be used to check whether premature ovarian failure has occurred. Usually, the ovaries will appear small and no follicles can be seen; or the ovaries may be normal in size but with only a few sparse small follicles.

【4】 Laparoscopy can be performed. If the examination shows that the ovaries have no follicles or show signs of ovarian atrophy, and FSH antibodies are also present, then this symptom is called unresponsive ovary syndrome.

Gynecological experts point out that poor follicular development is often manifested as follicular agenesis; although the follicles develop, their diameter is always less than 18mm and they cannot mature; the follicles develop into an oval shape that is incapable of fertilization; although the follicles can mature, during sexual intercourse, they will not rupture and thus cannot be fertilized.

Gynecologists point out that people with poor follicular development often have follicular dysplasia. Although the follicles are developed, they are actually smaller than 18 mm.

Women can undergo surgery to treat symptoms of poor follicular development. It is best to perform the surgery about a week after the end of menstruation. Contraceptive measures should be taken after the surgery because it takes about half a year for the ovaries to resume normal function. Normally, conception can occur between six months and a year after surgery, and 90% of women can become pregnant after treatment.

Poor development of follicles can easily cause infertility. Don't be too nervous at ordinary times, and accept treatment with a normal mind. Today's medical technology is very advanced, so the possibility of cure is still very high. For this disease, the cause must be found. The safest method at present is to perform drug treatment and B-ultrasound at the same time.
