Does endometrial thickness affect pregnancy?

The uterus is a woman's sixth internal organ and is where babies are born and develop. The endometrium is the layer that lines the uterus and changes with your menstrual cycle. Many female friends have many concerns before getting pregnant. They hope to conceive when both parties are in the best physical condition and get the most perfect combination. Therefore, they are not very clear about the thickness of the endometrium. Let me tell you about it below.

During the ovarian cycle, when follicles develop and mature in the ovaries, under the action of estrogen secreted by the ovaries, the endometrium proliferates, which is called proliferative endometrium. After ovulation, under the action of progesterone and estrogen secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovaries, the proliferating endometrium secretes, which is called secretory endometrium. After the corpus luteum in the ovary degenerates, due to the decrease in the amount of estrogen and progesterone, the endometrium loses its support and becomes necrotic and exfoliated, which manifests as menstruation. This is called the menstrual endometrium.

The endometrium is divided into the basal layer and the functional layer. The basal layer is not affected by the changes in ovarian hormones during the menstrual cycle and does not fall off during the menstrual period; the functional layer is affected by ovarian hormones and shows periodic changes, and becomes necrotic and falls off during the menstrual period. Therefore, the thickness of the endometrium is not a fixed value. It will change cyclically with the menstrual cycle: proliferative phase, secretory phase, premenstrual phase, and menstrual phase. Changes in the endometrium are a direct manifestation of changes in the ovarian cycle, and the endometrium is different in each menstrual cycle.

The thickness of the endometrium directly affects the gestation and implantation of the embryo, and uneven endometrial thickness can also lead to the risk of female infertility. Female friends should go for regular gynecological examinations to remove obstacles to pregnancy.

It seems that the thickness of the endometrium has a certain impact on pregnancy, so female friends must do a good check-up before having a baby and determine the date for conception. Of course, you cannot only pay attention to this aspect. Both parties should do a full-body examination to ensure that the risk is minimized before deciding to have a baby.
