Senile vulvar atrophy is an atrophic change caused by skin nutritional disorders, resulting in varying degrees of skin tissue reduction and functional disorders in all or part of the vulvar skin and mucosa. Senile vulvar atrophy is caused by aging, endocrine disorders, malnutrition, chronic infection, poisoning, congenital abnormalities or neurotrophic dysfunction, etc. It can also be caused by long-term mechanical compression, traction or physical factors such as radiation damage or chemical stimulation. It usually appears after the age of 50.

It manifests as thinning and drying of the skin, reduced elasticity and sagging, wrinkles on the surface, atrophy of sweat glands, reduced sweat and sebaceous gland secretion, and hair loss and thinning. In addition, pigmentation and hypopigmentation spots, capillary dilation, thin scales and ecchymosis may appear, often accompanied by seborrheic keratosis, senile keratosis, senile hemangioma, purpura, skin tags, senile elastic fiber disease and other diseases.
