Can a nearsighted woman serve in the military?

Myopia is a type of refractive error. When the eye is adjusted and relaxed, parallel light enters the eye and focuses in front of the macula, which causes no clear image to be formed on the macula, which is called myopia. At this time, the vision test will remind you of the eye degree. For example, myopia is generally called 50 degrees, which is recorded as "-0.50D". So, can a nearsighted woman join the army?

Vision is required for military service, and only those whose vision meets the requirements can join the army. First of all, we need to understand the conscription standards. For army personnel and personnel with junior high school education, the vision of the right eye must be no less than 4.9, and the vision of the right eye must be no less than 4.8. For staff with a high school education, the visual acuity of both eyes shall be no less than 4.7, and that of the right eye shall be no less than 4.5; for staff with a university or college degree or above, and students, the visual acuity of the right eye shall be no less than 4.6, and that of the right eye shall be no less than 4.5; for passengers of heavy tanks, submarines and naval vessel staff, the visual acuity of both eyes shall be no less than 4.8.

In recent years, the incidence of myopia in my country has shown a significant increasing trend, and myopia has become a major public health problem affecting the eye health of the Chinese people, especially young people and children. This most common eye disease is listed as one of the world's three major diseases. The prevalence of myopia in the Chinese population is about 33%, which is 1.5 times the global average (22% of the total population).

Many studies have shown that myopia has a certain genetic tendency, which can often be seen in families. If one or both parents are myopic, the possibility of their children developing myopia will increase. Among them, it is more established that the occurrence of severe myopia is autosomal recessive.

People who use their eyes at close range for a long time have a higher incidence of myopia, which is also the key reason for the high incidence of myopia among young people in my country. If you are tired and add factors such as poor lighting, small or blurred handwriting, long continuous reading, lack of outdoor activities, etc., it will further promote the occurrence and development of myopia.
