What are the examination items in late pregnancy?

After pregnancy, women will experience a lot of discomfort, such as morning sickness, nausea, etc. However, as the pregnancy months increase, these discomforts gradually disappear. Pregnant women must pay attention to go to the hospital regularly for physical examinations and observe the baby's development. So what are the examination items in the late pregnancy? In the late pregnancy, special attention should be paid to the fetal position, which will directly affect the way of delivery.

① Fetal position - refers to the relationship between the long axis of the fetus and the long axis of the mother

Two axes are parallel → longitudinal type; two axes are perpendicular → horizontal type. Usually longitudinal births are more common and transverse births are less common.

② Presenting part - refers to the part of the fetus that first enters the pelvic entrance

Longitudinal delivery → head first or breech first presentation; transverse delivery → shoulder first presentation. Usually, head presentation is more common and breech presentation is less common. This is because the fetus is top-heavy and the uterine cavity is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom.

③ Fetal position (referred to as fetal position) - the relationship between the fetal presenting part indicator point and the maternal pelvis

Depending on the relationship between the indicator point and the left, right, front, back, and horizontal part of the maternal pelvis, there may be various fetal positions. Usually more on the left front of the occipital bone and less in other directions.

In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, women must regularly undergo late pregnancy checkups, pay attention to relevant dietary adjustments, and develop good hygiene habits in daily life, go to bed early and get up early, and eat less spicy and irritating foods, which are all helpful for the development of the fetus.
