Why does the left side of my lower abdomen hurt during menstruation?

When we feel pain anywhere in our body, we worry about whether we have some disease. Nowadays, many women experience lower abdominal pain during menstruation. In severe cases, medication may be needed to relieve pain. Most women experience pain on the left side of their lower abdomen. We all know that there are many types of gynecological diseases. Gynecological diseases can also cause lower abdominal pain. Next, I will tell you about the factors that cause pain in the left side of the lower abdomen during menstruation.

Condition Analysis: There are many factors that cause dysmenorrhea, such as:

(1) Cervical stenosis mainly causes obstruction of menstrual outflow, leading to dysmenorrhea.

(2) Uterine hypoplasia. Poor uterine development is prone to abnormal blood supply, causing uterine ischemia and hypoxia, leading to dysmenorrhea.

(3) Abnormal uterine position. If a woman’s uterus is extremely retroflexed or anteflexed, it may affect the smooth flow of menstrual blood and cause dysmenorrhea.

(4) Psychological and neurological factors: some women are overly sensitive to pain.

(5) Genetic factors: Dysmenorrhea in a daughter is related to the dysmenorrhea in the mother.

(6) Endocrine factors: Abdominal pain during menstruation is related to increased progesterone in the luteal phase.

(7) Gynecological diseases, such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, etc. It is currently believed that increased levels of prostaglandins in the endometrium and blood are the main cause of dysmenorrhea. Because a large amount of prostaglandins have an excitatory effect on the uterus, they can cause strong contractions of the uterine muscles, uterine ischemia and hypoxia, and produce more severe pain, thus causing dysmenorrhea. Similarly, large amounts of prostaglandins can also cause gastrointestinal muscle contractions, so women with dysmenorrhea may also experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

The above are the factors that I and everyone have analyzed that may cause pain in the left lower abdomen during menstruation. There are many factors. Menstrual pain may be caused by a gynecological disease. Therefore, when you experience menstrual pain, do not blindly use medication to solve it. You need to go to the hospital for regular examination and treatment. Treat the disease with the right medicine. You should also pay more attention to your personal hygiene in daily life.
