What is the reason for lower abdominal distension during ovulation?

When a woman's eggs mature, ovulation will occur. If she has sex at this time, the possibility of pregnancy is very high. So when is the ovulation period? Some people judge whether they are in the ovulation period based on the time when they have stomach pain. In fact, this method is not very accurate, because some people will experience abdominal pain during ovulation, while others will not. Why do abdominal pain symptoms occur during ovulation?

When a mature egg is discharged from the surface of the ovary, it has to break through the thin membrane follicle that wraps the surface of the egg. When the egg is discharged, a small amount of fluid in the follicle will flow into the lowest part of the pelvic cavity. At this time, some people will experience abdominal pain.

Abdominal pain during ovulation is often in the lower abdomen on one side. The pain is not severe, and is dull, lacking, or heaviness-like. Sometimes it goes unnoticed and does not cause serious harm. It will last for about half a day to a day and then resolve on its own. Ovulation abdominal pain is a physiological abdominal pain, which is caused by the rupture of the ovarian follicle when the woman's ovaries ovulate and the stimulation of the peritoneum by the follicular fluid after ovulation. Therefore, the abdominal pain is relatively mild. Normally, the two ovaries in a woman's body ovulate in turn, once a month, so abdominal pain also occurs cyclically once a month, often with pain alternating between the left and right lower abdomen.

Generally speaking, this pain does not affect health, has no adverse consequences, and will not cause infertility. However, in a very small number of people, due to large rupture of the ovarian follicle during ovulation, damage to small blood vessels causes ovarian rupture and intra-abdominal bleeding, forming a gynecological emergency and requiring treatment in the hospital. If the abdominal pain is severe, you can take painkillers temporarily. If it occurs regularly every month, you can take short-acting contraceptives for a period of time under the guidance of a doctor to improve the symptoms. Seek medical attention if necessary.

If you experience abdominal pain during ovulation, do not think that this is normal. Instead, you should take it seriously and seek medical attention actively to avoid gynecological emergencies and more serious diseases due to your own lack of attention. You can also have blood tests and six hormone tests to determine the cause of the disease.
