What to do if you get pregnant after salpingography

Nowadays, some women cannot get pregnant due to various reasons. Under the doctor's advice, many people will choose to undergo hysterosalpingography. The chance of pregnancy after the operation will be much higher than before, but contraception is required in the first three months after the operation because it takes some time for the trauma after the operation to recover and provide a good environment for future pregnancy. So what should I do if I get pregnant after hysterosalpingography?

Hysterosalpingography has a certain therapeutic effect. For those whose fallopian tubes are unobstructed, the pregnancy rate within one year is as high as 76%, which is four times that of those who have not undergone HSG examination. However, it is best to practice contraception for three months after hysterosalpingography to reduce the possible impact of X-ray radiation on the eggs.

Although we repeatedly advise every couple who undergoes hysterosalpingography to use contraception for three months, some couples still do not pay attention to contraception for three months, and some get pregnant in the same month or the second month after the hysterosalpingography. They often come for consultation. Although X-ray radiation may have an impact on eggs, clinical observations have found that women who become pregnant in the same month after angiography do not have an increased risk of fetal abnormalities. Because most of the women who come for angiography are due to infertility, and it is not easy to get pregnant, so I often advise them to keep the fetus, but they must undergo routine prenatal examinations so that any abnormalities can be dealt with in a timely manner. If the fetus is normal, they can give birth to a healthy baby. I have been working in the provincial maternal and child health hospital for more than ten years, and have never seen or heard of a case of a deformed baby being born after hysterosalpingography. Under normal circumstances, contraception is still required for three months after hysterosalpingography.

It is not recommended to get pregnant immediately after fallopian tube surgery because it is still in the recovery period. If you get pregnant at this time, it may be bad for the fetus. However, if you really get pregnant, it is recommended to do a detailed examination to ensure that the fetus is healthy. After the fallopian tube angiography surgery, it brings a glimmer of hope to women who have been unable to get pregnant.
