Vitamin supplements for pregnant women

Pregnant women need to pay attention to many aspects during pregnancy, especially vitamin supplementation, which everyone needs to understand. Are there any benefits for pregnant women to supplement vitamins? How to do a good job of supplementing vitamins? Nutritionists recommend that pregnant women start taking in a certain amount of vitamin A every day starting in the second trimester of pregnancy. Vitamin A is more beneficial. Let's take a look at it below.

(1) The Chinese Nutrition Society recommends that pregnant women should consume 900 μg of vitamin A per day starting from the second trimester. Pregnant women are reminded not to take vitamin A drugs for the treatment of acne and psoriasis, as these drugs are the most potent teratogens. The recommended intake of vitamin D during pregnancy is 10 μg/day, vitamin E is 14 mg/day, vitamin B1 is 1.5 mg/day, vitamin B2 is 1.7 mg/day, vitamin B12 is 2.6 ug/day, vitamin C is 130 mg/day, and folic acid is 400 micrograms/day.

(2) Vitamin A for pregnant women: More vitamin A is needed during pregnancy to maintain normal growth and development of the fetus and the growth of various maternal tissues. According to surveys in recent years, the intake of retinol equivalents by pregnant women in my country is about 600 μg/d, and 90% of it comes from β-carotene. The recommended supply in my country is 1000 μg retinol equivalents. Clinical symptoms of vitamin A deficiency in pregnant women are rare, but prolonged dark adaptation time may be seen. According to an inspection in Tianjin, about one-third of pregnant women in cities suffer from vitamin A insufficiency, and the situation is even worse in rural areas. Vitamin A intake should be increased for pregnant women. A low-fat, high-fiber diet and intestinal parasites can reduce the conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A, while vitamin E can promote its conversion.

Vitamin B1 for pregnant women

my country recommends that pregnant women consume 1.8 mg/d of vitamin B1. However, in recent years, people prefer to eat refined rice and white flour, and the loss of these foods during cooking leads to insufficient vitamin B1 intake. It has been reported that those with vitamin Bl deficiency (increased transketolase activity in the blood) account for 1/3 of the pregnant women tested. These pregnant women often have gastrocnemius tenderness, sluggish knee and waist reflexes, slowed gastrointestinal motility, and indigestion symptoms. Therefore, pregnant women should be encouraged to use more coarse grains and mixed grains, and improve their cooking methods.

Vitamin B6 for Pregnant Women

Vitamin B6 is a coenzyme required for central nervous system activity, hemoglobin synthesis and glycogen metabolism. It can promote the decomposition of glutamate into γ-aminobutyric acid, which has an inhibitory effect on the brain. Therefore, vitamin B6 deficiency can cause central nervous system excitation, which may be related to nausea and vomiting in pregnant women.

Warm reminder: It is beneficial for pregnant women to supplement vitamins during pregnancy. Not only vitamin A but also many other vitamins should be supplemented. Therefore, if you want your baby to grow up healthily, you need to learn more about the relevant content. Do not eat high-fat foods in normal times, as this will bring more troubles to everyone.
