Introduction to Benign Breast Tumors

Introduction to Benign Breast Tumors

Breast disease has now become a serious threat to women's health. The unique characteristics of the disease make breast disease difficult to treat, and it takes a lot of time and money. Therefore, many women become particularly depressed when they suffer from breast disease. However, this is unnecessary, especially for a curable disease such as benign breast tumors. There is no need to worry too much. Let's take a look at the relevant introduction of benign breast tumors.

Benign breast tumors often occur in young women. Most of them are painless tumors and are often discovered accidentally. It is small in the early stage but grows rapidly. It is round or oval in shape with clear borders. Most of them are protruding, and flat ones are rare. The surface is not very smooth. It feels like small nodules when touched carefully. Some are obviously lobed, moderately hard, usually non-tender, and can be moved freely. It can be mainly divided into breast fibroadenoma, breast intraductal papilloma, breast lipoma, breast leiomyoma, breast hamartoma, breast neurofibroma and breast hemangioma. The following statement is made here based on the common breast fibroadenoma.

Breast fibroadenomas can be divided into three categories: ① Common fibroadenomas: This type is the most common, with a small tumor, generally less than 3 cm, and grows relatively slowly. ② Adolescent fibroadenoma is also called juvenile fibroadenoma: It is less common, and occurs more often around the time of menarche. It can also be seen in young women. The tumor grows fast, and the tumor is mostly larger than 5 cm, or even larger than 20 cm, causing changes in the appearance of the breast, but the boundaries of the tumor are still very clear. There are certain pathological characteristics. ③ Giant fibroadenoma: It is more common in middle-aged women and can be seen in pregnant, lactating, and pre- and post-menopausal women. The tumor grows rapidly and can reach more than 5 cm or even 10 cm or larger in a short period of time. Because of its large number of cells, it is also called multicellular fibroadenoma.

Although benign breast tumors are a treatable disease for women, it does not mean that women can ignore its harmfulness, because benign tumors can turn into malignant ones if not treated. Therefore, women must actively seek treatment to prevent malignant transformation.
