Precautions after hysterectomy

Precautions after hysterectomy

As a reproductive organ unique to women, the uterus is particularly prone to some problems. In recent years, the incidence of uterine diseases has been extremely high, such as uterine fibroids or uterine cancer. However, the uterus often needs to be removed during the treatment process so that the disease can be cured well. However, hysterectomy will have a certain impact on women's physical health. Timely adjustments are also needed after the operation to enable the body to recover better. Let's take a look at the precautions after a total hysterectomy.

Precautions after hysterectomy

1. Encourage more turning over or bedside activities to promote the discharge of gas in the body and prevent bloating.

2. Keep the wound clean and dry. If there is exudate, inform the nursing staff immediately to change the gauze.

3. If you feel pain in the wound, you can tell the nursing staff and they can give you painkillers according to the doctor's orders.

4. After the gas is discharged, you can eat a light diet, such as white porridge and green vegetables. Do not eat gas-producing foods to prevent bloating, such as milk and beans.

5. The catheter can be removed on the second day after the operation, and the patient should be able to urinate within 5 hours.

6. Dietary recommendations: After passing gas, you can take high-protein, high-iron, high-fiber foods, such as cherries, grapes, fish soup, vegetables, etc., to prevent constipation and promote wound healing.

7. When getting out of bed to move around, avoid using abdominal pressure, such as bending over, squatting, climbing stairs, riding a motorcycle, or riding a bicycle, which may cause pain to the wound.

8. Wipe from front to back after using the toilet to avoid infection.

Home care and precautions after surgery

1. People who have had a hysterectomy will no longer have menstruation

2. After 6-8 weeks of surgery, once the deep tissues in the pelvic cavity have recovered, you can have a normal sexual life.

3. Avoid lifting objects heavier than 3 kg, bending over to pick up objects, and climbing stairs within 6-8 weeks after surgery. You can use a belly band appropriately.

4. Avoid sitting for long periods of time, long-distance travel, yoga, rhythmic dance and other exercises that increase abdominal pressure within 3 months to avoid pelvic bleeding.

5. After using the toilet, wipe from front to back to avoid infection

6. Observe the wound daily to see if it is red, swollen, hot, painful or has abnormal secretions. If you have any of the above symptoms, please return to the doctor as soon as possible.

7. Eat more fruits and vegetables and high-fiber foods, and drink 2000-3000cc of water every day to prevent constipation.

8. People who have had bilateral oophorectomy are more likely to develop osteoporosis. They should increase their calcium and hormone intake, such as animal bones, dried fish, soy foods, and exercise appropriately to avoid falls and fractures.

9. Do not douche or bathe within 6 weeks (this is blocked)

10. Eat more foods containing protein, vitamins and iron, such as fish soup, grapes, cherries, vegetables, etc.

11. There are no special dietary taboos, but try to eat less irritating and gas-producing foods.

The above is an introduction to the precautions after total hysterectomy. After understanding it, we know that although hysterectomy is a very painful thing and will have a certain impact on future life, timely care and adjustment of the mentality will also help the body's recovery. In addition, we must make more changes in diet and daily life. Eat more light foods that help digestion, and avoid spicy and stimulating foods. You should also do more outdoor sports to improve your body's immunity.
