Introduction to 4D Color Doppler Ultrasound in Five Months of Pregnancy

My wife has been pregnant for 5 months. Seeing her belly getting bigger day by day and her movement becoming more and more inconvenient, she gets tired just by walking. I feel very distressed, but she feels that she is very happy. As long as the baby is healthy. She doesn't feel tired, that's the greatness of a mother. As long as the child is well, it doesn’t matter whether I am tired or not. But recently she really wants to know about the baby's condition. A friend who already has experience told me that I could do a four-dimensional color ultrasound.

Pregnant women over 10 weeks of pregnancy can have four-dimensional color ultrasound. The best time to do it is 23-25 weeks of pregnancy, because the fetus is in a period of rapid brain development around 24 weeks. The fetal structure has been formed at this stage, the baby's size and amniotic fluid are moderate, there is more space for movement in the uterus, the fetal bone echo is less affected, and the four-dimensional color ultrasound image is clearer. Through the four-dimensional color ultrasound image of the fetus at 5 months of pregnancy, we can see that the baby is still relatively small, about 19-22 cm tall and weighing 350-400 grams. Overall, the little guy's skin is still red, and there is not much subcutaneous fat, so it looks wrinkled.

The baby's eyebrows and eyelids are already clearly visible, and delicate nails have grown on its 10 little fingers. There are more small movements of the hands and fingers, either scratching the little nose, rubbing the little face, patting the little cheeks, and sometimes pouting the little mouth. A 17-week fetus is about 13 cm long and weighs 150-200 grams. At this time, the fetus looks like a pear. The baby's bones are still cartilage at this time, and the "lecithin" that can protect the bones begins to slowly cover the bone marrow. An 18-week-old fetus is about 14 centimeters long and weighs about 200 grams. The fetus's chest is bulging at this time. This is because he (she) is breathing, but at this time the fetus inhales and exhales amniotic fluid instead of air. At 19 weeks, the biggest change in the baby is that his sensory organs begin to develop rapidly according to regions. Taste, smell, touch, vision, and hearing now develop in specialized areas of the brain.

I took my wife to the hospital for a four-dimensional color ultrasound. When she saw that the baby was very healthy, she finally smiled happily. The four-dimensional color ultrasound image can show the development of the fetus more clearly and intuitively. It is not suitable to do four-dimensional color ultrasound in the early pregnancy, but by the fifth month of pregnancy, many expectant mothers can no longer wait to do four-dimensional color ultrasound, because at this time not only can it be done but the image is also clearer, and every part of the baby can be seen.
