When was the last antenatal checkup?

Every mother is full of expectations and hopes for the baby in her belly throughout the pregnancy. As the due date approaches, many mothers are often particularly worried. However, during the last prenatal check-up, the doctor will determine which delivery method is suitable for the expectant mother based on some data, so that the pregnant woman can make adequate preparations for delivery. This is also the most concerned thing for many mothers, but due to the lack of experience of many mothers, they often do not know the time of the last prenatal check-up. Let's learn about it together.

When was the last antenatal checkup?

Experts point out that when pregnant women have regular labor pains, amniotic fluid rupture and other symptoms, they should be aware that they may be about to give birth and should go to the hospital as soon as possible. After going to the hospital, the doctor needs to conduct a series of assessments and diagnoses on the parturient to determine which method of delivery to use. The main examination items are as follows:

(1) Confirming the signs of labor: For first-time mothers, false labor pains often make them nervous and they may mistake them for signs of labor. Therefore, after arriving at the hospital, medical staff will confirm the signs of labor. In other words, at least one sign of labor must be present to meet the criteria for hospitalization.

(2) Assessing the fetal condition: The doctor will install a fetal monitor on the expectant mother to measure fetal movements and conduct an assessment of the fetal physiological activities, and then use ultrasound to observe the fetal condition. The assessment of fetal physiological activities includes five major items: fetal movement, fetal breathing, fetal heartbeat, fetal flexion and extension strength, and amniotic fluid volume. These are all used to assess whether the fetus is still healthy and normal, and whether there is an emergency need for delivery.

(3) Guidance: Unless it is an emergency delivery or an accident occurs to the mother, most women will have ample time from the onset of labor to delivery, so the hospital staff will provide delivery-related guidance, such as delivery process instructions, hospitalization procedures, etc.

(4) Observe the progress of labor: In addition to using instruments to assess the progress of labor, doctors will also use internal examinations to determine the speed of the mother's labor. Clinically, a primipara can enter the first stage of labor within about 12 hours, which means that the fetal head descends more than 1 cm and the cervix is fully dilated or dilated to more than 10 cm.

The above is an introduction to the time of the last prenatal check-up. After understanding it, many mothers must be mentally prepared and not always ignore the necessary prenatal examinations, because some data will be helpful for doctors to judge the condition of pregnant women at the time of delivery, so mothers must pay attention to it and also maintain a happy mood during pregnancy.
