What are the causes of polycystic ovary?

Polycystic ovary is a disease that many people don’t know much about. This type of disease is common in women. Once this type of disease occurs, it has a great impact on the female body. The most common thing is that it threatens female fertility. Therefore, treatment of this type of disease must be carried out in a timely manner. There are many ways to treat polycystic ovary. Drugs and surgery are both good choices. So what is the cause of polycystic ovary? There are many aspects.

Causes of Polycystic Ovarian Disease:

1. Abnormal regulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis

Because mental stress and certain diseases affect the endocrine function of the hypothalamus-pituitary gland, the pituitary gland's sensitivity to Gn-RH increases, resulting in excessive secretion of LH and dysfunction of cytochrome, which serves as an androgen-forming enzyme in the ovaries, leading to excessive production of androgens by ovarian interstitial and theca cells.

2. Insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia

Some PCOS patients, especially obese patients, may show hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance, suggesting that it is caused by insulin resistance.

3. Abnormal adrenal function

Hyperfunction of the adrenal cortex and excessive secretion of androgens can cause anovulation and symptoms similar to polycystic ovary.

4. Genetic factors

A small number of cases of PCOS have chromosomal abnormalities.

5. Long-term mental stress and disease effects

Due to mental stress and certain diseases, the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis regulatory function is abnormal, resulting in excessive production of androgens by ovarian stroma and theca cells; high androgens in the ovaries inhibit the maturation of follicles, resulting in a series of symptoms of PCOS such as amenorrhea and hirsutism.

After understanding the cause of polycystic ovary disease, the treatment of this type of disease should also be based on the patient's condition, which will be of great help in controlling the disease. Women should also keep their emotions stable during the treatment of this type of disease. Too much emotional fluctuation will not help the treatment of the disease, so women should pay attention to this.
