Why is the menstrual flow decreasing?

Menstruation is very important for female friends. Abnormal menstruation also represents the health of our body. Nowadays, women's menstruation is always prone to irregularities. The impact of menstrual disorders on women is becoming more and more. The amount of menstruation of many women will become less and less. I believe there are already many such women now, but why is this? Let's take a look.

Hypothalamic amenorrhea The hypothalamus is the supreme headquarters of the endocrine system. There are neurons in the abdomen that control endocrine secretion. They receive nerve impulses from multiple brain regions, such as impulses of joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, and merge them into signals to promote the pulsatile release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). This hormone plays an important role in maintaining the function of follicles during the follicular phase. If its secretion is abnormal, such as reduced frequency, small amplitude or decreased amount, it will lead to follicular development disorder and amenorrhea. The common causes of abnormal GnRH secretion are as follows: mental stress, mental trauma, and environmental changes can put the body in a state of tense stress. This disrupts the connection between the central nervous system and the hypothalamus, inhibits the release of GnRH, and subsequently causes amenorrhea. This is more common among unmarried girls, people engaged in intense mental work, and those who are eager to have children. During World War II, many women suffered from amenorrhea due to excessive tension and fear.

Weight loss and malnutrition The central nervous system of the brain is extremely sensitive to rapid weight loss, and weight is closely related to menstruation. Amenorrhea can be caused when weight loss reaches 75% to 85% of standard weight. Anorexia nervosa can also cause hypothalamic dysfunction, resulting in decreased secretion of GnRH, gonadotropin, and estrogen, leading to severe amenorrhea and weight loss.

Vigorous exercise such as long-distance running can cause amenorrhea. Under normal circumstances, the occurrence of menarche and the maintenance of menstruation depend on a certain proportion of fat (17% to 20% of body weight). After exercise, muscle increases and fat decreases, which can lead to menstrual abnormalities. In addition, the release of GnRH is inhibited after a sharp increase in exercise, further aggravating the degree of menstrual disorders.

This is why experienced mothers always feed their girls better food during puberty. But some girls, in order to stay slim, do not appreciate their mothers' kindness, but do the opposite, such as dieting and being picky about food. During the period of height growth, nutrition cannot keep up, and the body reduces muscle fat significantly to ensure bone growth. The person becomes slimmer, but the weight drops to below 75% of the standard weight, and the fat is gone, so the menarche is delayed, and when it comes at the age of fifteen or sixteen, it is sparse. Seeing that girls of the same age all had their periods on time every month, he felt so inferior in comparison that he could not even hold his head up. He was extremely anxious and sought medical help everywhere. I went to many doctors to treat the symptoms but the root cause was not cured. My condition improved after I stopped taking the medicine. After two or three years of treatment, she has reached marriageable age, but the condition is still the same, and has even worsened to amenorrhea. Anxiety, depression, and worry throw the hypothalamic endocrine command into chaos, greatly reducing GnRH secretion. Coupled with insufficient nutrition, this double blow throws the endocrine system into chaos, making amenorrhea more difficult to treat.

I hope the above introduction to the decreasing menstruation is helpful to everyone. If such a phenomenon occurs, you should be able to check and treat it in time. Menstruation is very important for women, especially women of childbearing age. Abnormal menstruation should be taken more seriously.
