What not to eat during menstruation

In daily life, many girls don’t know much about menstruation. They just know that there are a few days every month when what we call “period” comes, and it’s a bit uncomfortable, and severe cases are called dysmenorrhea. Some girls are not so cautious about their period and can eat whatever they want every day, but they will experience discomfort after eating. Some people cannot eat any weird foods or they will feel uncomfortable.

So, during the menstrual period, which foods can be eaten and which foods cannot be eaten? The mood and mental stress are also factors that affect menstruation. Even abnormal diet for weight loss is one of the reasons. This requires attention.

Taboo 1: Eating salty food: Women should avoid eating salty food before menstruation. Because salty food will increase the body's salt and water storage, before menstruation, the progesterone level will increase, which can easily lead to edema, headaches and other phenomena. If you start eating a low-salt food 10 days before your period, the above symptoms will not occur.

Taboo 2: Drinking carbonated beverages: Many women who like to drink carbonated beverages will experience fatigue and lack of energy during menstruation, which is a sign of iron deficiency. Because soda and other beverages mostly contain phosphates, they react chemically with iron in the body, making it difficult to absorb the iron. In addition, drinking too much soda will neutralize the bicarbonate in the soda with gastric juice, reducing the digestive ability and bactericidal effect of gastric acid and affecting appetite.

Taboo 3: Eating spicy food: Do not eat spicy food and chili peppers before menstruation, and eat less fatty meat, animal oil and sweets.

Taboo 4: Eating spicy and cold foods: Spicy and cold foods are irritating and can easily cause pelvic vasoconstriction, resulting in too little menstrual blood flow or even sudden cessation of menstrual blood flow. In addition, irritating substances such as tobacco and alcohol will also have a certain impact on menstruation. If you do not pay attention to avoid these adverse stimuli, dysmenorrhea or menstrual disorders will occur in the long run.

If girls or women have similar symptoms, do not eat food randomly. Check which type you are and what food you can eat. If you do not have any of the above symptoms, then it is normal. If you have any of these symptoms, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a check-up. Do not take medicine randomly. Be sure to seek treatment under the advice of a doctor.
