Sexual intercourse during interferon therapy

Sexual intercourse during interferon therapy

Interferon plugs are immune substances released by body cells after being infected by viruses. They are a type of protein with broad-spectrum antiviral specificity on the same body cells. The full exertion of their specificity is also regulated and controlled by the genes of receptor cells, involving the production of RNA and proteins. So, can you have sex during the interferon suppository period? The following will analyze this matter.

First of all, patients who should receive interferon treatment should have already been infected with HPV. It is recommended that patients do not have sexual intercourse during the medication period to avoid cross infection. Maintaining a stable lifestyle will be more helpful for recovery. In addition, although interferon suppository is mainly used as an antiviral drug, it can inhibit the growth and division of viruses, and it also has an antibacterial effect. However, patients who take this type of medicine for more than 6 months should go to the hospital for a physical examination to observe whether the medicine has caused side effects. In addition, because the HPV virus is highly contagious, regular follow-up examinations during interferon treatment are required to see if the test results show any signs of turning negative.

Interferon suppository itself has no therapeutic effect on HPV, but it can enhance the body's resistance, especially high-risk HPV, which will be eliminated spontaneously about one year after infection. However, the necessary condition for elimination must be that the body's resistance and immunity are enhanced before it can be eliminated spontaneously. Therefore, when high-risk HPV infection is detected clinically, it is recommended to use interferon suppositories to provide a corresponding solution, mainly to enhance immunity so that HPV can be eliminated autonomously.

If high-risk HPV infection persists in clinical medicine, it may cause degeneration of cervical epithelial cells and even cervical cancer. Therefore, sufficient attention should be paid to high-risk HPV infection. So far, there is no specific drug that can directly treat high-risk HPV infection.
