Why is my breast swollen but I can't suck it out?

It is very normal for parturients to have breast engorgement, especially when they have just started breastfeeding, because this is when the mother's milk is the most abundant, and this is also when the baby eats the least. So after the baby finishes eating, some milk will remain in the pregnant woman's lobular hyperplasia, so the pregnant woman will feel particularly uncomfortable and swollen in the breasts. So why is the milk engorged but can't be sucked out?

Breast swelling precautions:

1. Breast engorgement is generally caused by excessive milk secretion and blocked mammary ducts. To keep the mammary glands unobstructed, you should let your baby suck frequently, emptying one side first and then the other.

2. If there is a lump in the breast and the milk cannot be sucked out, we usually apply hot compresses and massage, and use a breast pump to assist in milk extraction. The lump will disappear quickly after the milk is expressed.

3. If you have a low fever or lumps in the lymph nodes of your armpits or tonsils, you may have mastitis and should go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. It is best not to breastfeed your baby during the treatment period.

4. There are many folk remedies for breast engorgement, such as hot compress with chopped green onions, or hot compress with a red bean bag. Seeking help from a lactation consultant or acupuncture from a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner can have very obvious effects.

5. If the milk secretion is excessive, the excess milk should be sucked out after feeding the baby, which can effectively reduce the phenomenon of milk blockage. Don't worry about your baby not having enough milk, the more you suck, the more milk you will have.

6. Notes

Spicy, irritating, and overly greasy foods can easily cause getting angry and inflammation.

Mastitis should be treated as soon as possible, otherwise it will be bad for both you and your baby.

Additional information:

Breast engorgement is caused by too much milk in the breasts or blocked milk ducts, which causes breast swelling and pain.

Especially starting from the third day after delivery, the symptoms will be more obvious, mainly manifested as chest pain, breast heat and hardening, some breast sunken, etc. Breast engorgement not only brings pain to mothers, but also has a certain impact on the baby's breastfeeding.
