I took progesterone tablets and my menstrual flow was too heavy

Dydrogesterone tablets are a nearly natural estrogen that has a very good effect on regulating menstruation, but it does not always achieve the desired effect for patients. Sometimes there are some side effects. For example, after taking dydrogesterone tablets, the menstrual volume is very large, and some patients have less menstrual volume after taking it. So is this reaction a normal side effect?

After taking dydrogesterone tablets, the menstrual flow is heavy

Dydrogesterone is an oral estrogen that can cause the uterine wall to enter a complete metabolic phase, thereby preventing the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and lesions caused by estrogen. Dydrogesterone can be used for various conditions where endogenous estrogen is insufficient. It is normal to have heavy menstrual flow after taking dydrogesterone tablets. It is not likely to affect the next menstruation. Dydrogesterone tablets are estrogen. If the body has a certain amount of estrogen, menstruation will come after taking dydrogesterone tablets and stopping the medication. However, if the body's estrogen level is extremely low and the uterine wall is very thin, menstruation will not occur after taking dydrogesterone tablets. Dydrogesterone tablets must be taken under the influence of estrogen for menstruation to occur. The uterine wall will become thicker under the influence of estrogen until the endometrium thickens. After taking the dydrogesterone tablet, withdrawal bleeding will occur. Because the uterine wall cannot obtain the growth hormone, it will fall off and bleed, thus causing menstruation.

Menorrhagia refers to excessive blood loss exceeding 80ml during each menstrual cycle. Because each patient's subjective criteria for identifying bleeding vary greatly, they must be assessed appropriately. The treatment of menorrhagia includes medication. For patients who have no contraceptive requirements or are unwilling to use hormone treatment, antifibrinolytic drugs can be used. For example, tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and headache. For patients who require contraceptive measures, endometrial contraction therapy can be used. In addition, danazol can be used to inhibit the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone.

Take two dydrogesterone tablets at a time

The method of taking dydrogesterone tablets varies from person to person, and the dosage for different symptoms is different. The actual dosage still depends on the doctor's instructions. Just follow the doctor's instructions. In clinical medicine, the usage and dosage of this type of medicine are different for different patients. Patients with dysmenorrhea can take 10 mg twice a day from the fifth to the 25th day of the menstrual cycle. Patients with endometriosis should take 10 mg twice a day from the 5th to the 25th day of the menstrual cycle.

For the treatment of multifunctional bleeding and blood circulation, take 10 mg each time, twice a day, for five to seven days. For patients with early menstrual syndrome, it is recommended to take 10 mg twice a day from the 11th day to the 25th day of the menstrual cycle. Patients with menstrual disorders should take 10 mg orally twice a day from the 11th day to the 25th day of the menstrual cycle. The dosage for threatened abortion is four tablets of dydrogesterone taken orally at a time, which is 40 mg of dydrogesterone. Then take 10 mg every 8 hours until the symptoms subside. Patients with habitual abortion can take 10 mg twice a day until the 20th week of pregnancy.
