Female sterilization surgery

Female sterilization surgery

Nowadays, many families want to have a child, especially in the past society, women would give birth to many children and eventually get sterilized. Sterilization can be a good contraceptive, and this is also the choice of many families who do not want to have children anymore. Sterilization surgery is also known as sterilization surgery. Now it is generally women who get sterilization surgery, and a few men also get sterilization surgery. Let us learn more about female sterilization surgery.

No matter which contraceptive method is used, it cannot be 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, unless you undergo sterilization. Nowadays, many women, especially those who do not plan to have children, will choose sterilization. There are many issues that need to be paid attention to during female sterilization. Let's take a look at them below.

Basic concepts of ligation:

"Leg ligation" refers to the use of certain means (such as catgut) to tie up certain tubes of the human body or organism (such as blood vessels, vas deferens, fallopian tubes, etc.) or to achieve the same effect. "Leg ligation" is usually considered a minor operation. Sometimes, "ligation" is used specifically to refer to vasectomy or tubal ligation, which were originally permanent and irreversible contraceptive procedures, but now medicine has made it possible to perform vasectomy and tubal recanalization.

Female sterilization

There are two indications for tubal ligation. The first is that the woman must be married and have children, and both husband and wife voluntarily request sterilization. The second is that women with severe heart disease, heart failure, chronic liver and kidney disease with poor liver and kidney function, and certain hereditary diseases who are not suitable for pregnancy can also undergo this operation to achieve the effect of infertility.

Female sterilization is the use of artificial methods to achieve permanent contraception for women of childbearing age. Currently there are two methods: tubal ligation (surgical sterilization) and drug occlusion (drug sterilization).

Tubal ligation is a surgery to tie and cut both fallopian tubes, thereby preventing the eggs released from the ovaries from entering the uterus through the fallopian tubes. Choosing the appropriate sterilization method and performing the surgery at the appropriate time generally does not cause any danger.

There are two surgical methods: open abdominal and vaginal. The laparotomy is to make a 2 cm long incision in the lower abdomen, through which the fallopian tubes are removed and tied; the vaginal surgery is to tie the fallopian tubes through the vagina. The hospital stay for an open abdominal surgery is about one week, and for a vaginal surgery it is three to four days.

People who have undergone female sterilization surgery are often shrouded in various worries. In fact, sterilization surgery only involves ligating the fallopian tubes, not removing the ovaries, so it will not lead to the disappearance of female characteristics, and there will be no changes in menstruation compared to before the surgery.

Things to note when doing sterilization surgery:

1. Do not engage in strenuous exercise and avoid postures that cause local irritation. The pain and red vaginal discharge will continue for some time after discharge, and you should follow the doctor's advice to receive necessary examinations. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for 7-10 days after discharge from hospital.

2. After tubal ligation, it will be difficult to have a tubal ligation again even if you want to have a child in the future. Therefore, female sterilization surgery should be done after careful consideration. In other words, unless it is absolutely necessary from the perspective of eugenics or protecting the mother, one should not make a hasty decision. Before making a decision, one should fully discuss it with family members and doctors to weigh the pros and cons.

Female friends should pay attention to this and put it into practice to avoid the occurrence of various adverse factors. There may be a very small number of people whose mood is affected by excessive tension. As long as you are relaxed and optimistic, this kind of situation generally will not happen.

The best time for female sterilization surgery:

1. During the non-pregnant period, the time for female sterilization surgery should be within 3-7 days after the menstruation is completely over.

2. Surgery can be performed immediately after early or late artificial abortion, but surgery is not recommended within one month after spontaneous abortion or missed abortion. For women with IUDs, the IUD should be removed before sterilization.

3. For those who give birth naturally in the hospital during the postpartum period, the general condition is good and the surgery can be performed 6 hours after delivery. For those who give birth naturally outside the hospital, they need to be hospitalized for 1-2 days for observation and the condition will be normal before the surgery can be performed. For those with difficult labor, they need to be hospitalized for 4-5 days for observation, and surgery will be performed only if there are no special circumstances.

4. During breastfeeding, the operation can be performed within 3-7 days after the menstruation resumes. Women who have not resumed menstruation can have sterilization surgery on any day of their choice, but pregnancy must be ruled out.

5. Cesarean section. Patients who undergo other gynecological surgeries can also undergo tubal ligation at the same time.

Female sterilization surgery is now very common. If a woman chooses to have a sterilization surgery, don't feel too much pressure or be too afraid. This surgery is very simple and does not cause any harm to the body. However, everyone still needs to pay attention to some issues. It is also very important to choose the right time to have the sterilization surgery. Do not do strenuous exercise after the surgery.
