Many dialysis patients experience fatigue, discomfort and other symptoms after dialysis. In fact, it may be that they did not do the following things right: 1. Water and Nutrition Supplementation 1. Drink plenty of water -During dialysis, a certain amount of water and electrolytes will be lost. After dialysis, you should replenish water appropriately, but avoid drinking a large amount of water in a short period of time to avoid increasing the burden on your heart. You can drink a small amount of water several times, 100 to 200 ml each time, and adjust according to your thirst level and doctor's advice. - Make sure the water temperature is appropriate to avoid excessive cold or heat that can irritate the gastrointestinal tract. 2. Eat a healthy diet -Supplement high-quality protein: such as eggs, milk, fish, etc., which can help the body recover and maintain muscle strength. But be careful to control the amount to avoid excessive protein intake that increases the burden on the kidneys. You can eat 1 to 2 hours after dialysis, such as eating an egg or drinking a glass of milk. - Eat a moderate amount of carbohydrates: provide energy, such as whole wheat bread, rice, etc., but avoid eating high-sugar foods to prevent blood sugar fluctuations. You can pair it with some vegetables to increase dietary fiber intake and promote intestinal peristalsis. 2. Proper rest and activities 1. Rest - After dialysis, the body is weak and should be immediately bed rested for 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow the body enough time to recover. Keep the environment quiet and comfortable, and avoid noise and strong light stimulation. 2. Activities -After resting, you can do some light activities, such as walking, simple stretching exercises, etc. It helps to promote blood circulation and enhance muscle strength, but avoid strenuous exercise and excessive fatigue. The activity time can be gradually increased from a few minutes to more than ten minutes, depending on your physical condition. 3. Monitor physical indicators 1. Weight -Measure your weight every day after dialysis and observe changes in weight. If your weight increases too quickly or too slowly, it may indicate that you are consuming too much or too little water, and you need to adjust your diet and water intake in time. 2. Blood pressure -Measure blood pressure regularly, especially within a few hours after dialysis. Low blood pressure may cause discomfort such as fatigue. If blood pressure is abnormal, you should inform your doctor in time and take appropriate measures. 3. Other symptoms -Pay attention to observe whether you have symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, etc. If the symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical attention immediately. As long as dialysis patients do these things after dialysis, they can effectively relieve symptoms such as fatigue and discomfort, improve their quality of life, and better cope with dialysis treatment. |
