What is World Health Day?

The origin of World Health Day can be traced back to 1948. That year, the Charter of the World Health Organization of the United Nations came into effect. In order to commemorate this important moment, the first World Health Assembly decided to establish "World Health Day". The purpose of World Health Day is to draw the attention of all countries to health issues, mobilize people of all countries to generally care about and improve the current health conditions, and improve the level of human health. This year is the 76th World Health Day. The World Health Organization has set the global theme as "My Health, My Rights", and the National Health Commission has set the Chinese theme of World Health Day as "Everyone Enjoys Health and Promotes Health Together".

What can we do?

Wash your hands frequently and keep them clean. When touching food, going to the toilet, going out and coming home, etc., we should clean our hands thoroughly with soap and running water, making sure that every finger, the gaps between the fingers and the back of the hand are fully cleaned. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the length of hand washing. It is usually recommended to wash hands for no less than 20 seconds. Proper hand washing can effectively remove germs on the hands and reduce the risk of disease transmission.

Open windows for ventilation and keep air flowing. If you stay in a closed environment for a long time, harmful substances such as bacteria and viruses in the air will easily accumulate, increasing the risk of infection. Therefore, we should develop a good habit of opening windows for ventilation. Open windows regularly every day to ventilate, let fresh air into the room and take away the dirty air. Especially in winter, although the outdoor air is cold, you should also open windows for ventilation appropriately to keep the indoor air fresh.

Exercise moderately, follow scientific guidance to go to bed early and get up early, exercise moderately, strengthen your physical fitness, improve your ability to prevent and treat diseases, and maintain a good physique and a healthy mentality.

Do not spit or litter. Develop a good habit of not spitting or littering. In public places, we should use tissues or masks to cover sputum and dispose of it properly, and put the garbage in designated trash cans.

Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption, stay away from bad habits. Smoking and excessive drinking are two very common bad habits. Smoking not only harms personal health, but also may cause passive smoking to people around you, increasing the risk of lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, etc. Excessive drinking can damage the liver, affect the nervous system, and even lead to serious consequences such as alcohol poisoning. Therefore, we should actively quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption, and stay away from these bad habits.

Psychological balance and good social adaptation. Think about problems with an optimistic attitude, face the changes of things, the pressure of life and work calmly, and deal with various things calmly and objectively. Reasonably resolve negative emotions, maintain a good mood and a healthy mentality.

Let us develop good hygiene habits and lifestyles, start with ourselves, practice a healthy lifestyle, and be the first person responsible for our own health.
