Know about blood clots and make life smooth

VTE refers to blood clots formed in the veins, mainly including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the lower extremities and pulmonary embolism (PE). These two diseases are actually manifestations of the same disease at different stages and locations.

Three elements of thrombosis:

1. Damage to the vein wall: such as surgery, trauma or inflammation.

2. Hypercoagulable state of blood: Certain diseases or genetic factors may cause the blood to clot more easily.

3. Slow venous blood flow: Prolonged immobility, bed rest or after surgery may cause slow blood flow.

High-risk groups:

① Patients after surgery or trauma

②Tumor patients

③People who use hormone drugs for a long time

④People who maintain the same posture for a long time (such as airplane passengers)

⑤ Patients hospitalized for more than three days

⑥ Obese people

⑦Smokers

⑧ Elderly people

Clinical manifestations:

①Asymmetric swelling of the legs

②Chest pain

③Pain in the affected limb

4. Difficulty breathing

⑤Hemoptysis

Precautions:

1. Drug prevention: Use anticoagulant drugs, such as warfarin, new oral anticoagulants, etc.

2. Lifestyle adjustments: regular exercise, balanced diet, drink plenty of water, avoid sitting or standing for long periods of time, do not smoke, do not wear tight shoes and socks, etc.

Three-word formula to prevent thrombosis:

Take medicine with caution: Use medicine correctly as prescribed by your doctor.

Drink plenty of water: Keep your blood flowing.

Loose shoes and socks: avoid shoes and socks that are too tight and may cause poor blood flow.

Drink more tea: Some ingredients in tea may help prevent blood clots.

Eat less oil: Reduce the intake of high-fat foods.

Drink less alcohol: Excessive drinking may increase the risk of blood clots.

Move your feet regularly to promote blood circulation.

Exercise more: enhance the leg muscle pump effect and promote blood return.

Summary: Early prevention is indeed more important than treatment. For high-risk groups, preventive measures should be taken in time and medical examinations should be carried out regularly. If the above symptoms occur, you should seek medical attention immediately.
