Pay attention to the prevention of respiratory diseases after the earthquake, the CDC reminds →

At 23:59 on December 18, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. Some infrastructure such as water, electricity, transportation, and communications were damaged. Some areas in Qinghai Province felt strong tremors.
After an earthquake, if the public does not take precautions, coupled with the impact of low temperatures, respiratory diseases may spread. Therefore, disease prevention after an earthquake disaster is very important .

Pay attention to prevent respiratory diseases

Take good personal protection

1. The disaster area is densely populated, with large personnel flows and frequent contact. Coughing, sneezing, spitting and other behaviors can cause the spread of viruses and bacteria, thereby causing various respiratory diseases. Recently, respiratory diseases are at a high risk, so we remind everyone to take personal protection while taking emergency precautions .

2. The temperature has changed greatly recently. The lowest temperature at night in the earthquake zone is about -14℃. The dry cold air can damage the respiratory mucosa and shrink the airway, causing respiratory symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, and increased sputum, and aggravating existing respiratory diseases. Therefore, disaster relief personnel must take measures to keep warm, and pay attention to keeping the head, hands, and feet warm to prevent frostbite. In addition, pay attention to fire safety when heating in emergency tents, and be careful of carbon monoxide poisoning when using open flames.

3. Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes with your hands after sneezing, coughing, before meals, after defecation, and after contact and handling of suspected contaminants.

4. Do not spit anywhere. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when sneezing or coughing .

5. Do not share towels, toothbrushes, face wash water, tableware, etc. with others .

6. After the earthquake, people are in close contact in collective places in the disaster area, which can easily lead to the spread of respiratory diseases. When conditions permit , personal protection should be taken to reduce the flow of people .

7. Monitor your own health . If you have fever, sore throat, cough or other respiratory symptoms, you should wear a mask and take precautions to avoid crowded places. If the symptoms are severe, please seek medical help in time.

Post-earthquake wound disinfection should be done well

If you get injured during an earthquake, be careful of infections caused by direct contact of the skin wound or mucous membrane with soil or pollutants, which can lead to gas gangrene and tetanus, etc. So don't delay after getting injured. You must thoroughly clean the wound, apply anti-inflammatory medication, and get a tetanus shot in time .
