It turns out that the stomach is an emotional organ. There is an emotional line from the brain to the stomach.

Science Fiction Network, March 20 (Qin Yingying) Why do some people feel stomachache when they are angry, and some people have hiccups and stomach cramps when they are angry or nervous? Is the connection between negative emotions and stomachache a coincidence or a necessity?

Nowadays, the gastroenterology departments of major hospitals are overcrowded and stomach diseases are prevalent. Many people think that it is caused by diet, which is indeed a factor, but for more people it is caused by emotions.

There is a disease called "irritable bowel", the full name is irritable bowel syndrome. The more characteristic manifestations are, for example, you easily want to go to the toilet when taking an exam, you get stomachache when you are stressed, and you get diarrhea when you are nervous. In short, when emotion-related factors appear, gastrointestinal symptoms are likely to occur, some of which are mainly diarrhea, and some are mainly constipation.

Since intestinal motility and the secretion of gastric acid and pepsin are closely related to the brain-gut axis, the intestinal flora mainly affects the brain and behavior through this axis. Therefore, psychological stress can cause abnormal gastrointestinal motility.

Depressive emotions, such as anxiety, depression, fear, etc., often lead to low gastrointestinal motility, and people will experience loss of appetite, belching, hiccups, early satiety, bloating and other discomforts. More excited emotions, such as anger, irritation, and disgust, can lead to gastrointestinal hypermotility reactions. Such emotional activities can easily cause increased gastric acid secretion and gastrointestinal motility, causing gastroesophageal reflux, gastritis, and even peptic ulcers. This is the reason why people are said to have stomachaches due to anger.

Therefore, in daily life, we should avoid excessive tension and stress, keep a good mood, release stress reasonably, and reduce the impact on the gastrointestinal tract. In terms of diet, we should mainly eat light and easily digestible food, and try to reduce the intake of greasy, spicy and cold food to reduce the stimulation to the gastrointestinal tract, which can reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal tract diseases.
