Half of the world's population may be overweight by 2035, with more and more people falling into the quagmire of obesity

China Science and Technology News Network, March 6 (Qin Chuan) According to the Global Times, citing Reuters, if no effective measures are taken, it is estimated that by 2035, more than 4 billion people in the world will be obese or overweight, accounting for more than half of the world's population.

Recently, the "World Obesity Atlas 2023" released by the World Obesity Federation shows that in the next 12 years, 51% of the world's population, or more than 4 billion people, will be obese or overweight.

Obesity refers to a certain degree of obvious overweight and excessive fat layer, which is a state caused by excessive accumulation of body fat, especially triglycerides. Excessive accumulation of body fat due to excessive food intake or changes in body metabolism causes excessive weight gain and causes pathological and physiological changes or latent diseases in the human body.

When analyzing the degree of obesity based on body mass index, the international community usually uses the body mass index cutoff values set by the World Health Organization (WHO), that is, a body mass index of 25.0 to 29.9 is overweight, and a body mass index of 30 or more is obese.

Obesity not only affects the beauty of the body, but also brings inconvenience to life. In addition, there are joint soft tissue damage, decreased reproductive ability, psychological disorders, heart disease, diabetes, atherosclerosis, fatty liver, gallstones, edema, gout, etc.

Common weight loss methods include enema weight loss method, osmotic pressure weight loss method, sauna weight loss method, milk powder weight loss method, rope skipping weight loss method, Pu'er tea weight loss method, etc.

Obesity has become a global health problem, with more and more people falling into the quagmire of obesity and related diseases. Obesity not only affects personal health, but also has a significant impact on society. The World Obesity Federation believes that countries need to take effective and consistent actions to address the increasingly serious health and economic crisis brought about by overweight or obesity.
