Canalys: Global tablet shipments reached 37.4 million units in Q3 2024, an increase of 11% year-on-year

Recently, market research firm Canalys released a report on global tablet shipment data for the third quarter of 2024.

The report shows that the global tablet market continued its growth momentum in the third quarter of 2024, with shipments increasing by 11% year-on-year to 37.4 million units. This growth was mainly due to the recovery of demand in the consumer and commercial sectors, especially the demand at the end of the back-to-school season, channel inventory preparation before the festival, and increased corporate IT spending. These factors together drove the development of the tablet industry.

Specifically for major manufacturers, Apple continued to maintain its leading position in the tablet computer market, with a market share of 36% and shipments of 13.591 million units.

Samsung remained in second place with shipments of 6.886 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12%; Lenovo, Huawei and Xiaomi ranked in the top five, with Lenovo growing by 14% year-on-year.

Xiaomi became the fastest growing manufacturer with a growth rate of 58%, while Huawei's shipments were 2.9 million units, achieving a growth of 29%.

Canalys research manager Himani Mukka said that amid a challenging consumer environment, bundling offers and aggressive promotions across markets drove growth in tablet shipments.

Whether it is "Black Friday" and "Cyber ​​Monday" in overseas markets or China's "Double Eleven" shopping festival, major manufacturers are launching new products to attract users to upgrade their old tablets.

Although factors such as inflation have weakened demand in the consumer market, commercial demand has still rebounded, driving the replacement of equipment. The overall market growth rate remains moderate. Recent performance shows that tablets have good prospects in different end-user market segments.
