CINNO Research: China's foldable phone sales reached 2.62 million units in Q2 2024, a year-on-year increase of 125%

According to recent news, the latest data from consulting firm CINNO Research shows that the sales volume of foldable screen mobile phones in the Chinese market reached 2.62 million units in the second quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 125% and a month-on-month increase of 11%, and has maintained a triple-digit year-on-year growth rate for four consecutive quarters.

Among them, Huawei's market share was 35.2%, an increase of 1% year-on-year, ranking first in the domestic foldable screen mobile phone market share .

Vivo is not far behind, and thanks to the good performance of its new vivo X Fold3 series, it ranked second with a market share of 31.9%.

OPPO’s market share fell by 5% year-on-year due to the extended launch cycle of its new phones, ranking third in China with a market share of 11.1%.

In addition, in this quarter, the market sales of foldable screen mobile phones equipped with AI technology accounted for 42% , a significant increase of 42% year-on-year and 10% month-on-month. AI technology is expected to become a standard feature of foldable mobile phones.

In terms of body thickness, sales of foldable screen mobile phones with a folded thickness of less than 12mm accounted for 70% this quarter , an increase of 47% year-on-year and 19% month-on-month, and the trend of thinning thickness is obvious.

In terms of mobile phone weight, from 2020 to the first half of 2024, the weight of new foldable screen phones launched in the market showed a clear downward trend. The median value dropped from 282g in 2020 to 204g in the first half of 2024, a weight reduction of 28%.
