Generally speaking, when we screen for cerebrovascular disease, we most often use MRA, but sometimes there are some problems with MRA. For example, if there is some calcification in the blood vessel wall, although the lumen may be completely unobstructed, the MRA may mislead people into thinking that the lumen is narrow. Many patients are very scared of the word "nuclear". In fact, it does not carry a nucleus, so you don't have to worry about the radiation problem. When the cerebrovascular disease is really confirmed and interventional treatment is required, we still need to do DSA. There are two types of MRA, one is without contrast agent, and the other is with contrast agent. For screening of vascular disease, it is enough without contrast agent. MRI is a nuclear magnetic resonance vascular imaging, so MRA and CTA have their own strengths. More than 95% of cerebrovascular diseases can be diagnosed through these two examinations, such as cerebral aneurysms and vascular malformations. These MRAs are usually sufficient for diagnosis. |
