Pueraria root - beautify the skin and protect the liver

The decoction is called "Kugen Decoction", which comes from "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" written by Zhang Zhongce. It can dispel wind and cold, relieve muscles and induce sweating. Kudzu root is the dried root of the leguminous plant Pueraria lobata or sweet Pueraria lobata, which is generally dug in autumn and winter. Pueraria root has the effects of promoting blood circulation, relieving muscles and fever, relieving alcohol poisoning, clearing rashes, promoting body fluid and quenching thirst, and raising yang and stopping diarrhea. It is clinically used for fever, headache and straight neck, measles that does not clear up, fever and thirst due to yin deficiency, hot diarrhea and dysentery, spleen deficiency and long-term diarrhea, stroke and hemiplegia, and alcohol poisoning.

Modern pharmacological research has found that more than 100 compounds can be identified from Pueraria root, mainly containing puerarin, flavonoids, triterpenes, coumarins, saponins and other effective ingredients. Among them, puerarin is a unique component of Pueraria root.

Specifically, Pueraria root can have the following effects:

1. Protect cardiovascular system. The flavonoids and puerarin in Pueraria root can dilate blood vessels, improve microcirculation, reduce vascular resistance, increase blood flow, significantly improve ventricular contraction and relaxation function during myocardial infarction, prolong ejection time, protect myocardial cells, and reduce apoptosis. Therefore, it can be used clinically to prevent and treat myocardial infarction, myocardial ischemia, arrhythmia and other diseases.

2. Sober up. Pueraria root contains rich soy bean extract, which can effectively decompose ethanol and protect against alcoholic liver fatty degeneration and liver inflammation. Experimental studies have shown that puerarin can significantly reduce liver fibrosis, alcoholic hepatitis and fatty liver.

3. Beauty and skin care. The kudzu isoflavones in kudzu root are known as phytoestrogens, which can directly act on dermal cells, prevent the development of aging phenotypes of skin cells, and then reduce the aging process of endothelial cells, which helps to maintain skin elasticity and hydration and reduce skin aging. When used for daily health care, you may wish to use it as a tea substitute, which is both convenient and healthy. I recommend a "kudzu chrysanthemum tea", which is made of 5 grams of kudzu root, 3 grams of kudzu flower, 5 grams of green tea, and 5 grams of chrysanthemum. Add water and decoct it, take the decoction and drink it instead of tea. It can clear away heat, relieve attack, wake up the spleen and stomach, and detoxify alcohol. It is suitable for people who are confused, thirsty, irritable, dizzy and have headaches after drinking too much.

Precautions

It should be noted that although Pueraria root has many benefits, it also has contraindications. Because of its cold nature, people with weak constitution and heavy dampness should be careful to eat less to avoid excessive attack on Yang Qi; Puerarin can lower blood pressure, so people with low blood pressure should not take it. ▲
