Now that autumn has arrived, can intravenous infusion to "clean" blood vessels prevent cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction that occur in winter?

After the beginning of autumn, several friends asked Huazi if they should have an IV to "clean" their blood vessels to avoid cerebral infarction or myocardial infarction in the winter. Huazi told them that there is no garbage in the blood vessels and that IV has no cleaning effect on them. IV itself is an invasive way of administering medicine. If abused, it will not only fail to maintain the blood vessels, but will also cause damage to them. Controlling the "three highs" and leading a healthy lifestyle are the real ways to maintain blood vessels.

1. Blood vessel blockage is not caused by "garbage". In many people's impressions, the reason for blood vessel blockage is that there is garbage hanging on the blood vessel wall. So as long as you use medicine to flush the garbage in the blood vessels regularly, you can prevent blood vessel blockage and avoid diseases such as cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction.

But in fact, there is no "garbage" in the human body's blood vessels. The main cause of blood vessel blockage is atherosclerotic plaques produced after vascular endothelial damage. Atherosclerotic plaques grow in the vascular endothelium and are not "garbage" attached to the blood vessel wall and cannot be simply washed away.

2. Excessive infusion is harmful to blood vessels. Infusion is an invasive way of drug administration, which allows drugs to enter the blood vessels directly without absorption. Drugs commonly used to "clean" blood vessels are mostly active ingredients extracted from traditional Chinese medicines such as Danshen and Panax notoginseng. These drugs have the effect of dilating blood vessels and improve blood flow in a short period of time after taking them, but the efficacy will soon be lost after stopping the drug, and they cannot have a therapeutic effect on atherosclerotic plaques.

Excessive infusion therapy may cause harm to blood vessels. In the production process of infusion, insoluble particles are inevitably produced. Particles below 50 microns are difficult to filter and cannot be seen by the naked eye. However, after entering the human blood vessels, they may be deposited in the microvessels and affect microcirculation. Modern medicine believes that infusion therapy can only be performed when the patient cannot take medication orally or by intramuscular injection.

3. The way to maintain blood vessels is to control the "three highs" and quit smoking. The formation of atherosclerotic plaques in blood vessels is based on the damage of the arterial endothelium. Only then will low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) enter the arterial endothelium from the damaged area to form plaques. The causes of arterial endothelial damage are the "three highs" such as high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes, as well as smoking. Therefore, controlling the "three highs" and quitting smoking to avoid damage to the arterial endothelium are the best ways to prevent the appearance of atherosclerotic plaques.

When atherosclerosis occurs in the arteries, the greatest danger is the instability of the plaque itself, which is easy to rupture and induce platelet aggregation to form thrombus. Moreover, at the current level of medical technology, there is no drug that can completely eliminate plaques.

The statins commonly used now can lower the LDL-C level in the blood (usually to below 1.8mmol/L), stop the further progression of the plaque, and increase the stability of the plaque and prevent the plaque from rupturing.

Although taking statins cannot completely remove plaques, it can reduce the size of plaques. From this perspective, statins can reverse plaques, but they need to be taken for a long time. In clinical trials, it usually takes 2 to 4 years of continuous use to see a significant effect of reversing plaques. Therefore, occasional infusions cannot clean blood vessels. Long-term medication under the guidance of a doctor is the best way to prevent disease.

To sum up, infusion in autumn cannot clean blood vessels, nor can it prevent cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction in winter. To prevent diseases, you only need to control the "three highs", quit smoking, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. If atherosclerosis has already occurred, you need to use statins for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. If you have any questions about medication, please consult a doctor or pharmacist in time. I am pharmacist Huazi, welcome to follow me and share more health knowledge.
