Does a person's sleep duration affect vision?

The causes of non-pathological myopia are very complex, and there is no clear explanation yet. As the number of myopic people increases, scholars are gradually increasing their research on myopia, and many experiments have shown that there is a positive correlation between sleep and myopia.

The article "Analysis of Poor Vision and Influencing Factors of Primary and Secondary School Students in Lanzhou and Hefei in 2014" mentioned the impact of sleep time on myopia among primary and secondary school students in Hefei; the article "Research Progress on the Relationship between Sleep and Myopia among Children and Adolescents" mentioned that "some studies have shown that insufficient sleep time and sleep disorders may be important influencing factors affecting myopia among children and adolescents" and the article "Survey on the Prevalence of Myopia among Middle School Students and Its Relationship with Sleep Disorders" pointed out that myopia also has an impact on sleep disorders...

A Korean study by doctors on 3,625 Korean teenagers aged 12-19 found that sleep duration is negatively correlated with myopia. The less sleep, the more likely you are to become myopic. On average, for every hour of sleep reduction, the degree of myopia increases by 10 degrees.

It is still unclear how sleep affects vision. A widely accepted theory is that if teenagers lack sleep, it will cause autonomic dysfunction and unbalanced development of various parts of the body. Ophthalmologists' surveys and statistics confirm that the primary factor causing autonomic dysfunction of the eyes is lack of sleep.

In Alpha Egg’s opinion, sleep is a way to rest the eyes. In addition to creating a good "working" environment for the eyes (such as sufficient light), we also need to let them have a good rest (in addition to sufficient sleep, you can also do some activities such as looking into the distance, staring at distant objects, playing badminton, etc.), and combine work and rest, so that you can have a pair of charming eyes!
