The body temperature soared to 42℃ and the death occurred despite rescue efforts... Pay attention to this reminder!

The "dog days" have arrived, which means we have entered the hottest period of the year. High temperatures have been the "main character" of the weather in many places recently.

Hot weather continues

"Prevent heatstroke and cool down" This reminder must be paid attention to! Every minute is related to life!

A man in Huizhou spent more than 3 hours outdoors

Unfortunately died of heat stroke

Recently, the reporter learned from Huizhou First People's Hospital that the emergency department of the hospital recently received a patient with heat stroke, a middle-aged male, whose body temperature was nearly 42 degrees Celsius when he was sent to the hospital. Because he had been seeking medical treatment in many places, when his family members sent him to the hospital, it had been nearly 10 hours since the onset of the disease. After a long period of rescue, the man still died.

It is understood that the man had been outdoors for a long time, from 14:30 to 18:00 in the afternoon. Due to lack of water, electrolyte supplements and no sun protection measures, he suddenly fainted on the ground due to heatstroke.

Yang Guohua, deputy chief physician of the emergency department of Huizhou First People's Hospital, said that the hospital sees many patients with heat stroke every year, most of whom suffer from mild heat stroke. In the past month, the hospital has seen two seriously ill patients. In addition to the above patient, another patient was sent to the hospital in time and is still being treated in the intensive care unit. His condition has improved.

Yang Guohua said that heatstroke is a disease in which patients develop relevant clinical manifestations due to dysfunction of the body temperature regulation center, failure of sweat glands and excessive loss of water and electrolytes in hot weather, high humidity and windless environment.

According to the severity of clinical manifestations, heat stroke is divided into pre-heatstroke, mild heatstroke, and severe heatstroke. Severe heatstroke is more serious and is divided into heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Heat stroke is the most serious type of heat stroke, which is mainly manifested by high fever, no sweating, and impaired consciousness of the patient, with a high mortality rate. Generally speaking, the golden time for emergency rescue is half an hour.

Who is prone to heatstroke? Doctors point out that people who are engaged in heavy physical work or work in a high temperature environment (generally atmospheric temperature>32℃, humidity>60% and poor ventilation), who cannot adapt to the high temperature environment, who work for long hours, who do strenuous exercise or military training, and who do not have adequate heatstroke prevention and cooling measures are very likely to suffer from heatstroke.

In addition, when the room temperature is high and there is no air conditioning, the obese, malnourished, elderly and weak people and those with chronic diseases are more likely to suffer from heat stroke. According to statistics, diseases such as myocardial infarction and cerebrovascular accident can increase the incidence of heat stroke by 10 times. Yang Guohua introduced that the golden time for emergency rescue of heat stroke is half an hour. When encountering heat stroke, people around should provide the following emergency rescue measures for the patient:

1. First, the patient should be immediately transferred to a well-ventilated, low-temperature environment;

2. Let the patient lie flat, unbutton or even take off his clothes, apply a cold towel to his head, and turn on a fan or air conditioner to help the patient cool down;

3. Patients who are conscious or who have regained consciousness after cooling down can take light saline or salt-containing cool drinks orally;

4. Take out the ice pack and use it for ice compress and massage for the patient;

5. For patients with symptoms such as abnormal circulation, high fever, convulsions, and impaired consciousness, help them cool down quickly and send them to a capable hospital as soon as possible for further rescue and treatment.
