When do bees come out?

From April to June every year.

Bees are flying social insects, known as resource insects. In insect taxonomy, they belong to the order Hymenoptera, suborder Sphenopoda, order Apioidea, superfamily Apoidea, and family Apidae, and are an important group of the order Hymenoptera. Bees are holometabolous insects, and they go through four stages in their life: egg, larva, pupa, and adult.

According to fossil data, bees have been found in large numbers in the late Eocene strata of the Tertiary Period. Many species of the Apidae family have great economic value and are closely related to human life. There are records of bees and their uses in ancient China.

Many species of insects have products or behaviors that are closely related to medicine, agriculture, and industry, and they are called resource insects. The most familiar ones are the Italian honey bees and the Oriental honey bees that are domesticated to make honey.

Where do bees build their nests?

Bees like to build nests in eaves, windows, beams, roofs, wall partitions, under palm leaves, on pine trees, in the soil, faults on slopes, tree holes, etc. Bees are very demanding in choosing nest sites, requiring not only abundant nectar sources near the hive, but also warm in winter and cool in summer and able to defend against natural enemies.

1. Species that lead a social life use wax secreted by themselves as spleen, such as honey bees, stingless bees, and lycopods. The nest cells are hexagonal.

2. Most species build nests in the soil, and the inside of the nest is coated with a mixture of wax and saliva to maintain humidity inside the nest.

3. There are more diverse nesting methods using plant tissues. For example, leafcutter bees can roll plant leaves into tubes to form nest chambers and place them in natural cavities. Yellow-spotted bees use plant hairs to make wart-like nests on stems. Reed bees and leaf-tongue bees build nests in dead plant stems.

4. Others, such as the genus Mason bee, use saliva to stick small stones into a nest, the genus Osmia builds a nest inside the shells of slugs, and so on.

Where does bee pollen come from?

Before leaving the nest to collect pollen, worker bees first eat a little honey and put it into their honey sacs. Then they fly into the flowers, scraping pollen grains with their upper palate and front feet from time to time, and moistening the pollen with the honey they brought to make it stick. If there is a lot of pollen, the pollen will also be scattered among the hairs on the bees' bodies as they busy themselves among the flowers.

Bee/Honeybee belongs to the order Hymenoptera, family Apidae. The body length is 8-20 mm, yellowish brown or dark brown, with dense hairs. The head is almost as wide as the chest. The antennae are knee-shaped, the compound eyes are oval and hairy, the mouthparts are chewing and sucking, and the hind legs are pollen-carrying legs. Two pairs of membranous wings: the front wings are large, the hind wings are small, and the front and back wings are connected by a row of wing hooks. The abdomen is nearly oval, with less body hair than the chest, and there are chelicerae at the end of the abdomen. There are four stages in the life cycle: egg, larva, pupa and adult.
