Is there a high chance of pregnancy after vasectomy?

Sterilization is one of the main methods used by couples who do not want to have children, because it can effectively prevent the wife from becoming pregnant. But things are not certain. Some people asked the editor: Is the chance of getting pregnant after a sterilization operation high? Sterilization is a form of sterilization, so the chance of getting pregnant should not be high. Couples should think carefully before doing this operation.

Is there a high chance of pregnancy after a vasectomy?

Vasectomy is a form of sterilization, which is an effective way for couples to take contraceptive measures. It is not only a surgical treatment for women, but can also be performed on men. Vascular ligation surgery can ensure the completion of contraceptive effectiveness with a high probability, and has the advantages of small incision, small tissue damage, simple operation, safety, and convenience.

Ligation surgery refers to the use of a certain method (such as using catgut) to tie up some ducts of the human body or plant body (such as blood vessels, ejaculatory ducts, bilateral fallopian tubes, etc.) or have the same effect. Ligation surgery is generally considered to be a minimally invasive surgery. Vasectomy is sometimes referred to as vasectomy or vasectomy. Although this type of contraceptive surgery was irreversible in the early days, today's medicine can already perform ejaculatory duct recanalization and fallopian tube recanalization.

It is generally difficult for women to get pregnant after surgery. Generally speaking, the chance of an unexpected pregnancy after a sterilization operation is not high. Under normal circumstances, the chance of an unexpected pregnancy is around 2-3%.

Sometimes bilateral fallopian tube recanalization may occur. If the menstrual period is delayed, a urine test can confirm the situation. Therefore, the possibility that the ligation ring fell off during the ligation operation cannot be ruled out, causing the egg cell to enter the uterus and cause pregnancy. If pregnancy does occur, it is recommended to see a gynecologist to determine the cause of the unexpected pregnancy after the vasectomy.

Reasons for pregnancy after vasectomy

1. Related to the method of ligation surgery. Simple ligation surgery (roll ligation surgery) may allow the lumen to be reopened, but the more commonly used ligation surgery nowadays has a lower chance of recanalization.

2. Related to the ligation line being too loose or too tight. Generally, sterilization surgery is performed after childbirth or abortion. At this time, the bilateral fallopian tubes have hematoma, edema, and sensitive tissues. If ligation is performed with thread, the bilateral fallopian tubes will become narrower as the uterus repairs after childbirth. The tightness of the ligation thread will not change, so the ligation position may naturally loosen, allowing the lumen to reopen. If the ligation is too tight, the thread may disconnect the fallopian tubes, resulting in bilateral tubal abdominal leakage. If the standard hole is close to the uterine segment of the fallopian tubes, the egg cell can enter the lumen of the fallopian tubes from the standard hole, so there is a chance for the sperm and egg cell to meet, and pregnancy can occur.

3. Related to the location of the ligation surgery. If the ligation operation is performed on the muscle wall of both fallopian tubes, and some tissues are damaged too much, they may sometimes become necrotic and fall off. Afterwards, the two remaining ends of the fallopian tubes can connect tightly and become open again on their own.

4. Incomplete ligation: Part of the bilateral fallopian tubes are ligated, while the other part is not and remains connected.

5. Although it is a rare situation to mistakenly perform round ligament ligation surgery, you should still pay attention to it.
