Why Baidu Netdisk cannot replace storage disk

Ten years ago, Baidu Netdisk gradually became popular, and the free space provided by the Netdisk ranged from several hundred GB to 1 TB or 2 TB. At that time, uploading was fast and downloading was convenient. Compared with hard disk, it seemed much more convenient, but large files still needed hard disk to be stored.

Later, a membership system was implemented. Membership was required for uploading videos and for downloading at an accelerated speed. Even now, after purchasing a membership, the download speed of Baidu Netdisk is still limited and not much faster.

From this example, we can see that while online storage brings convenience, it also has many problems. One is the increase in membership fees, the limitation on download speed, etc. With the popularization of 5G, the membership fees for online storage will definitely not be low.

Therefore, it is impossible for the network disk to replace the storage disk, they can only coexist.

Why local storage is more convenient

Even if our network speed exceeds the storage read and write speed, if the network disk server limits the speed, we will still have a very slow download speed. Taking Baidu Netdisk as an example, the download speed of free users is usually limited to several hundred k or even less than 100 k, which is obviously unacceptable. If you open a membership, it costs one or two hundred yuan per year, which is really not as convenient as local storage.

What will the future hold for 5G mobile phone memory?

First of all, the biggest problem with 5G is the data cost. Even if the cost of 5G is as low as a very low price, it is difficult to achieve truly unlimited data. Without unlimited data, it is impossible to replace the mobile phone memory. Usually, the size of a photo we take is 10MB, and a video of more than ten seconds is hundreds of MB. Even if you are given 100GB of 5G data per month, it will be used up quickly and cannot withstand the consumption.
