Where can the new coronavirus easily survive? Which places in the home need to be disinfected?

We all know that the new coronavirus is a dangerous virus that can survive in the air for a period of time. In order to avoid infection with the new coronavirus, the home should be disinfected frequently. So which areas of the home should be disinfected during the new coronavirus period? Let's take a closer look!

Where can the new coronavirus survive?

Regarding household cleaning, Zhang Zhoubin introduced that the new coronavirus is sensitive to chlorine-containing disinfectants and heat, but the survival of the virus is different in different home environments and hygiene habits.

In daily home environments, mobile phones, telephones, mouse and keyboards, light switches, faucets, door handles, etc. are all places that are frequently touched, but their hygiene is often ignored, resulting in potential risks of indirect transmission that require high attention.

cell phone

Now, the importance of these two habits is becoming more and more important. "Keyboards, mice, light switches, etc. can also be cleaned with disinfectant wipes in the same way as mobile phones. "Note that they are disinfectant wipes, not ordinary wipes." Zhang Zhoubin said.

floor

Disinfectants can be used to disinfect floors and other surfaces. Zhang Zhoubin reminded citizens that when choosing disinfectants, they should choose products with a "Xiaowei Certificate" license number on the back, as the disinfection effect is more guaranteed. When using disinfectants, just follow the product instructions for the proportions of different items for disinfection.

Faucet

"Not many families have automatic sensor faucets. Most people turn on the faucet when they wash their hands and then turn it off again. If there are viruses on your hands, you will be infected again when you turn off the faucet after washing your hands." Zhang Zhoubin pointed out that the faucet is also a blind spot in cleaning, and you should pay attention to the cleaning of the faucet when washing your hands.

toilet

After using the toilet, in order to prevent the water in the toilet from splashing out, you should close the lid before pressing the flush button. Wash your hands with hand soap and running water in time after using the toilet and flushing the toilet. And it is best to flush the toilet lid regularly.

How to disinfect the new coronavirus

(1) Textiles such as clothing and bedding: When there are no visible contaminants, if they need to be reused, they can be sterilized with circulating steam or boiling for 30 minutes; or soaked in 250-500 mg/L chlorine-containing disinfectant for 30 minutes, and then washed as usual.

(2) Indoor rooms: When there are no visible pollutants on the ground or surfaces, they can be wiped or sprayed with 500-1000 mg/L chlorine-containing disinfectant or 200-500 mg/L chlorine dioxide disinfectant for at least 30 minutes.

(3) Important details: such as door handles, faucets, buttons, etc. can be sprayed and disinfected with 75% alcohol.

(4) Indoor air: Open windows frequently for ventilation.

What kind of disinfectant is good for the new coronavirus?

The most commonly used and most easily available disinfectants for home disinfection are 84 disinfectant and 75% alcohol. Some pharmacies also have chlorine dioxide effervescent tablets and hydrogen peroxide disinfectant, which should be diluted according to the instructions; disinfectants such as Dettol and Toilet Cleaner containing disinfectant and bactericidal ingredients can also be used for home disinfection.

1. Effective: medical alcohol

Note: 75% concentration works best. Do not spray alcohol on infants and adults in large quantities to prevent alcohol allergies. Be careful with open flames to prevent fire.

75% alcohol pads or alcohol can not only kill viruses, but are also cheap. If the alcohol concentration is too high (for example, 90%), it needs to be diluted to about 75% before use, otherwise it will not effectively kill the virus.

How to use: Use directly. Mobile phones, remote controls, computer keyboards, and various electrical switches and buttons can be disinfected with it.

Someone asked: What if I can’t buy it?

Emergency measures: Liquor with a concentration of more than 75% can also be used to disinfect the surface of objects, but the effect is definitely not as good as medical alcohol.

To emphasize: This is an emergency measure and cannot be used for a long time.

2. Effective: Chlorine-containing disinfectant

Note that if the word "chlorine" is included in the name, it means that the disinfectant contains chlorine.

Chlorine-containing disinfectants refer to disinfectants that can produce sodium hypochlorite when dissolved in water. Although "chloroxylenol" and "parachlorometaxylenol" both have chlorine in their names, they are actually phenolic disinfectants. In daily life, 84 disinfectant, bleaching powder, chlorine-containing disinfectant powder or chlorine-containing effervescent tablets are all chlorine-containing disinfectants. They can be directly diluted and placed in plastic containers for disinfection and sterilization at home. When purchasing, be sure to carefully read the product packaging and active ingredients.

Although chlorine-containing disinfectants have strong sterilization and virus-killing capabilities, they are also highly irritating. When using them, be sure to avoid the skin, mouth and nose.

Wear a mask, rubber gloves and a waterproof apron. It is also recommended to wear goggles to prevent the solution from splashing into the eyes and causing damage.

Bleach solutions should be prepared and used in a well-ventilated area.

Use cold water to prepare bleach, hot water will affect the sterilization effect.

Contains 5% sodium hypochlorite bleach, the dilution steps are as follows:

Reminder: Chlorine-containing disinfectants cannot be used at the same time as toilet cleaners, as they can easily produce toxic gases. It is also not recommended to use them at the same time as alcohol, as the disinfection effect may be weakened and may even produce toxic gases. They should be stored in a low temperature, cool place and out of reach of children. If necessary, use a detergent first, and then rinse it thoroughly before using bleach for disinfection.

3. Effective: Peroxide disinfectants

Peroxide disinfectants have a wide range of applications. Chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, and peracetic acid are representative substances, and they must be diluted before use.

Chlorine dioxide: suitable for disinfection of general objects, environmental surfaces, tableware, medical and epidemic prevention, etc.

Hydrogen peroxide: Surface disinfection: Use the original solution (according to the manufacturer's instructions) to spray, wipe or soak the surface of the object for 20 minutes.

Peracetic acid: Generally not recommended for home use.

Peroxide disinfectants have good anti-virus effects and are a type of safe, green and environmentally friendly disinfectant. However, most peroxide disinfectants are unstable and long-term use can cause damage to the eyes and respiratory mucosa of humans and animals. If used, it is best to choose commercially prepared disinfectants.
