Why do tires leak in winter? Why do tires make noises when starting a car in winter?

Before normal use, you must ensure that the tires are fully inflated and the tire pressure is normal, so as not to affect driving on the road. In winter, you will check the tires before driving, but winter tires may leak more easily than summer tires. Why is this?

Why do tires leak in winter?

In winter, especially in extremely cold winter, due to the effect of thermal expansion and contraction, the gas pressure will decrease at low temperatures, especially for tires with insufficient original tire pressure. For example, the tire pressure should be 2.2KPA at normal temperature, but due to slow leakage, the tire pressure is reduced to only 1.Kpa. At this time, if it is in a low temperature environment, the tire pressure will be further reduced, and the internal pressure will be insufficient. In addition, the rubber becomes hard, the seal between the wheel hub becomes worse, the air pressure is low and the wheel hub seal is not good, at this time, it is possible that the toe cannot be pressed tightly on the wheel hub due to insufficient internal pressure, and the tire will suddenly be deflated!

Therefore, it is recommended that car owners should set the tire pressure higher in winter, especially in northern my country, such as 2.5kpa, so that the tire will not be deflated suddenly. If it still occurs, you need to look at the degree of tire aging.

Why do tires make noises when starting a car in winter?

The climate is dry in winter, and fine sand particles in the wind can enter the brake disc due to small cracks. In addition, the brake disc is mainly a semi-metallic brake disc, and the inside of the brake disc contains steel wool and other mixtures, which will cause the brake to have an abnormal sound or just start to have a similar scraping sound. The earliest asbestos brakes had little braking noise, but their poor high temperature performance and carcinogenic risks have been basically eliminated.

Since it is winter, we still need to determine whether the brakes are frozen due to car washing or flooding.

Why is the new tire slow to start?

Slow starting is related to the engine, tires, and throttle response speed.

Tires are an important embodiment of the final power output, and they also need to be run-in. If it takes a few days, it will be fine. This is because the protective layer on the tire surface is slippery and not suitable for acceleration, so it will inevitably be slow. If it still feels slow after a period of time, you should check other problems. It may be that the engine has not been cleaned for a long time, resulting in excessive carbon deposits and insufficient power.
