Pregnant women must not take medicine

Pregnant women must not take medicine

If ordinary people have a fever and a cold, they may be fine after taking some cold granules, and some people don't even need to take medicine. But it is different for pregnant women. They need to pay special attention to what medicines they can take and what medicines they cannot take. The amount of medicine they take is also different from that of ordinary people, and they should also pay attention to the time of taking the medicine. So, what medicines should not be taken during pregnancy?

1. Antibiotics: such as tetracycline, streptomycin, penicillin, neomycin, etc. Tetracycline can inhibit bone growth; streptomycin and penicillins can damage the fetal central nervous system, cause congenital deafness, and continue to damage kidney function; neomycin can cause abnormal bone growth, congenital cataracts, and intellectual disabilities in the fetus.

2. Sedatives and hypnotic drugs: Phenytoin, tranquilizers and other drugs can cause abnormal growth and development of the fetus' body, face and brain.

3. Hormones: such as lutein copper, diethylstilbestrol, androgen, ethinyl progesterone, ethinyl estradiol, medroxyprogesterone, methyltestosterone, anabolic growth hormone, etc., which also have anti-fetal malformation effects on the fetus.

4. Anticoagulant drugs: such as coumarin, heparin, aspirin, etc., may cause fetal head deformity and may cause fetal exudative diseases.

5. Phenothiazine psychotropic drugs: Antipsychotic drugs should be used under the specific guidance of a physician.

6. Laxatives: They are prohibited to be used during pregnancy to prevent reflex uterine contractions, which may lead to miscarriage.

7. Hyperthyroidism and anti-thyroid drugs: such as thiabendazole, have teratogenic effects on the fetus and should be used under the guidance of a physician.

8. Anti-cancer drugs: such as dactinomycin, cyclophosphamide, thiotepa, etc., can cause anencephaly, hydrocephalus, cleft lip and palate, urethral damage, limb and periocular deformities, etc.

9. Chinese herbal prescriptions: Any Chinese herbal prescriptions with the instructions stating "not suitable for pregnant women" or "pregnant women should use with caution" are not suitable for consumption. Chinese herbal medicines and Chinese herbal preparations have complex ingredients and various mechanisms of action, so pregnant women should be cautious when taking Chinese herbal prescriptions.
