Can you make cat litter yourself? How to teach your cat to bury its poop with cat litter?

Cat litter is the main tool for cats to go to the toilet, and it is also convenient for cats to deal with cat feces. Cat litter needs to be changed frequently, which is a considerable expense for cats. So can cat litter be made by yourself?

Can you make your own cat litter?

You can do it yourself.

1. You can go to a food processing place or factory to get some leftover tofu dregs, grind them into small particles, and then dry them, and use them as tofu cat litter.

2. You can break up some corn cobs and sawdust, mix them together, wet them, break them into small pieces, dry them, or use them as cat litter. It's a little more troublesome to make your own.

3. To make bentonite cat litter, you can take some clay and dry it to get fine particles. Note that the soil with little dust can also be used for cat litter.

4. You can use fine dry sand as cat litter, but it is not friendly to cat urine.

How to teach your cat to bury its poop with cat litter

Hold the cat in front of the litter box, grab its front paws and gently dig a few times in the litter, and say to it: This is your toilet from now on, you need to go to the toilet here... and so on. Don't think that the cat doesn't understand, it is very smart! Repeat this action patiently several times.

If you find that there is no improvement after you have done this and the cat still urinates and defecates anywhere outside, take a napkin to absorb its urine on the paper, and then spread it in the litter box, or pick up the cat and put it in the litter box, then carry it to the side of the litter box, put its paws in the litter box again, and gently dig the cat litter around the cat to bury it.

Repeat the above steps 2-3 times and you will be successful. However, if a cat that used to use the cat toilet suddenly stops using it and chooses to urinate and defecate anywhere, you need to check whether the cat litter has not been changed for a long time or has not been shoveled. You should also observe whether the cat rubs its butt after urinating and defecating anywhere. If there is any problem, seek medical attention in time.

Why cat litter doesn't clump?

There are generally three reasons why cat litter does not clump. 1. The cat litter purchased by the owner does not clump, such as crystal cat litter. Crystal cat litter does not clump, but it has excellent water absorption. Pine cat litter also does not clump, but it will turn into powder when it encounters water. 2. The cat litter is of poor quality. It is recommended that the owner change the cat litter to avoid getting it on the cat's paws.
