How to repot the green radish? What to do if the green radish turns yellow after repotting?

The green radish is very suitable for indoor green plants. It is evergreen and easy to keep alive. Just water it on time. The green radish grows vigorously. If it grows too close, you need to repot it. So how do you repot the green radish?

How to repot the green radish

Repotting time

You don't need to change the pot according to the season. You can change the pot as long as you feel that the pot is too small. It is generally best to change the pot in the evening. If you change the pot in the afternoon in summer, the temperature may be too high and the change may fail.

Repotting soil

The soil used for the green radish is generally sandy soil or humus soil rich in humus. Soil rich in nutrients can help the green radish grow better. You can also add some decomposed cake fertilizer to the pot when repotting to increase fertility. You can choose flower soil that is loose and breathable, and you can also add an appropriate amount at the bottom of the pot.

Repotting steps

1. In order to better separate the flowerpot and soil when repotting, do not water the green ivy for a period of time before repotting.

2. Gently remove the green radish from the pot. The roots are still carrying a lot of potting soil. Gently knock off the soil and clean some of the roots. Observe whether the roots are rotten, cut off the rotten roots with scissors, and then soak them in potassium permanganate or carbendazim for a while to disinfect.

3. Disinfect the flowerpot before repotting. Brush it clean while soaking it in water, and then expose it to the sun for sterilization and removal of bacteria and insect eggs in the flowerpot.

4. Prepare to pot the green radish. Gently compact the soil with your hands, and then water the green radish thoroughly. There is no need to fertilize the green radish immediately after repotting, as the roots cannot absorb nutrients just after transplantation. Put the green radish in a ventilated and cool place and let it slowly grow new roots.

What to do if the green radish turns yellow after repotting

prune

Cut off the yellow leaves to save nutrients and water consumption. Yellow leaves cannot be restored anyway, so it is better to cut them directly. Leave the leaves that are not yellow but just soft and can be saved.

illumination

Put the repotted green radish in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. Note that it should be cool, not diffused light. The root system has not yet resumed normal operation after repotting, so we should reduce water evaporation as much as possible. Put it in a cool place for the time being to let the green radish recover slowly, and don't rush to see the sun. If it has already seen the sun, it is understandable that the leaves turn yellow. Be sure to wait until the green radish has adapted to the pot and the leaves are firm before moving it to a diffused light place or expose it to the sun appropriately.

Sprinkling

Water thoroughly once, ventilate for two to three hours, then stop watering. Spray the leaves of the green radish with clean water, preferably in a mist form, twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Don't spray too much, just wet the leaves. Then reduce the number of watering every day. After a week of maintenance, the green radish will basically be acclimatized. During this period, water thoroughly when the soil in the pot is 80% dry, otherwise don't water it again.

Precautions

1. Do not apply any fertilizer during the repotting period, just water and spray.

2. Be sure to pay attention to frost prevention after repotting. The green ivy is very fragile at this time. If the temperature of the growing environment is relatively low, the whole pot will die.

3. Just put the flower pot in one place and don't move it around. The more you move it, the greater the chance of it dying.

How to grow green radish well in hydroponics

water

The green radish used for hydroponics must have aerial roots (also known as nodes), and the leaves at the end of the green radish entering the water must be cut off (because the leaves will rot and pollute the water quality if soaked in water for a long time). The water should just cover the root system. Change the water every 2-3 days in the early stage, and change it every 7 days when small white roots grow out. Wait until the root system is well developed, and then change the water when the water is dirty. Normally, just add water if there is less water.

Nutrient solution

Fertilizer is very important for hydroponic green radish. Just add two or three drops every time you change the water. After adding nutrient solution, some green algae will easily appear in the water. Be sure to clean it when changing the water. In addition, there must be sufficient light and circulating air.
