Why are the leaves of hydrangea wilting? What should I do if the leaves of hydrangea are wilting?

Hydrangea is also quite common in our daily life. Because of its gorgeous flowers and various colors, many flower lovers will grow them at home. However, many people have encountered the problem of hydrangea leaves wilting during cultivation. So what is the reason for hydrangea leaves wilting? What should we do if hydrangea leaves are wilting? Let's take a look.

Why are the leaves of hydrangea wilting?

Hydrangea is a semi-shade plant. Native hydrangeas often grow in woodlands or streams where humidity is high and light is relatively weak. In actual planting, insufficient humidity, slightly strong light, and large hydrangea leaves often cause insufficient water supply to the root system, causing the leaves to wilt. At this time, proper shading and watering are needed. If your hydrangea wilts and watering and spraying cannot relieve it, then it is basically root rot.

What to do if the hydrangea leaves are brittle

1. Prune wrinkled, diseased and dead leaves

For hydrangeas, it is generally necessary to cut off some old and diseased leaves and remove some dead branches, mainly to reduce water evaporation from the leaves and increase the survival rate, ensuring that the hydrangeas can resume normal growth after planting.

2. Change pots and soil in time

Replace the original soil with moist, well-drained and humus-rich loam. If you change the pot, if the pot is too airtight, change it to a pot with good air permeability, or make 2-3 holes at the bottom of the pot and put a layer of small gravel to ensure ventilation.

3. Place in a cool place with scattered light and sheltered from the wind

Hydrangea is a shade-loving variety. It prefers a cool, warm and humid environment and does not like direct sunlight. In addition, it does not retain water in strong winds and the water is easily dissipated.

4. Stop watering

Although hydrangea likes moisture, this does not mean that you can water it too much. According to the principle of "water when it is dry and water thoroughly when it is watered", you should stop watering when there is enough water.

5. Appropriate fertilization

Flowering plants have a great demand for nutrients, and proper fertilization can promote root development. According to the principle of "thin fertilizer and frequent application", intermittent application of farmyard manure with humus to hydrangeas is beneficial to their growth.

6. Pay attention to antifreeze

The temperature is low in winter, so it should be placed in an indoor environment with a room temperature above 5℃ and sufficient light.

Why won't the hydrangea at home bloom?

There are two types of hydrangeas. One is that they only bloom on old branches, and the other is that they can bloom on both new and old branches. Regardless of the type of hydrangea, the number of branches determines the number of flowers. In other words, as long as there are enough branches, they will bloom well in the second year. Hydrangeas require a cool and humid environment, but better light can promote flowering. Therefore, in addition to plenty of water and fertilizer, when planting hydrangeas, you need to increase the light as much as possible without getting sunburned.
