Is liquefied gas a gas? How to avoid liquefied gas explosion?

Liquefied gas is one of the commonly used fuels in the home. It is compressed and liquefied and then put into a special tank, and then connected to the liquefied gas stove for use. Liquefied gas is flammable and can explode if you are not careful. So how can you prevent it?

Is liquefied gas a gas?

LPG is the abbreviation of liquefied petroleum gas. As the name suggests, it is the recovery or separation of low-boiling oil and gas in the oil refining process. It is not composed of a single substance, but a mixture of low molecular weight hydrocarbons such as propane, butane, and pentane. It is a colorless and odorless gas. Because it is easily liquefied under pressure, it is often compressed into liquid for storage, transportation, and use.

The most common thing we come into contact with or know about in daily life is the liquefied gas tank. Liquefied gas is compressed and liquefied, so when we shake the liquefied gas tank, we can hear a "clang clang" sound like water.

Another thing we often come into contact with is lighters. The lighters we see every day are cheap and affordable (0.5 yuan to 1 yuan per stick), popular and widely used, and they are filled with liquefied petroleum gas. The lighter has a transparent body and the filling inside is liquid, like pure water.

How to avoid liquefied gas explosion

1. Select qualified liquefied gas tanks, gas supply hoses and stoves that comply with relevant national regulations;

2. It is strictly forbidden to heat the gas tank with fire or hot water;

3. It is strictly forbidden to use the gas tank upside down;

4. Each time you finish using the liquefied gas tank, close the main valve above the tank;

5. Replace the air supply hose regularly to avoid leakage due to hose aging;

6. Install combustible gas detection and alarm devices in places where liquefied gas is used.

Why is the flame of household liquefied gas black?

The fire cover distributes the fire unevenly, and the side with more gas does not burn completely, causing the bottom of the pot to turn black. You can try turning the fire cover. If the fire cover is deformed, it should be replaced.

The part with fire is called "fire cover". When the fire cover is deformed and half of it is lifted up, the flame will be bigger on one side. The light flame will just turn red, while the heavy one will make a "puff" sound. The heavier fire will run to the fire mouth below and burn the electronic wire used for ignition. The reason for the deformation of the fire cover is that there is too much cooking in the pot, which overflows onto the fire cover.
